Well, anyone check them out at Vicar St Thought it was a deadly show. Surprised that the gig was almost sold out. Didn't realise that there were so many fans out there. Anyhow, great gig (my first of the year) and looking forward to a few more in February and March. No Smiths covers and a promise to play The Táin next visit. All in all, a Saturday night well spent.

anybody pop along to whelans last night i can honestly say it was without doubt the most fun i've had at any gig. ever. 17 band members, a tonne of ticker tape/confetti, a chorus of madonna's 'like a prayer', kazoos and ukuleles for the audience, sweet swedish pop melodies, an impromptu performance of teenage kicks outside the loos upstairs post gig and unbridled joy in every heart....life-affirming, good for the soul and for the feet...heroic!

Peter Bjorn and John last week in Paris 1939 0
Started by aidan
In a good ol' small poky smokey sweaty cellar of a venue last Saturday I was at a brilliant concert by Peter Bjorn and John - I loved their catchy pop album but live I didn't expect that they would ROCK!!!! yeah baby!!!! I hope most of you got to see them last autumn in Ireland (or whenever, wherever you are) because they're well worth it; anyone who has been to a Teenage Fanclub gig will know the feeling of 'when pop ROCKS!'
The album is essential, of course.

What a complete revelation. If the new songs played on the night areanything to go by the next record could be a minor masterpiece.

Anyone else head along to Tripod (first time I'd been in there, not even when it was the Red Box. Really nice room but the carpetting is a bad idea) last night I thought they were fantastic, any of these NME endorsed bands that ripped them off should just quit becasue they're fighting a losing battle.

Luke Haines in Whelans last night 2878 4
Started by bort
Did anyone catch Luke Haines in Whelans He played a great gig, better than his Galway one, according to the forum on his website. It seems there was a very poor turnout at that and he cut it short. Having been a massive fan of the Auteurs for years, I was delighted he played a few of those songs too. He hasn't lost his touch; the newer material sounds really good as well and that was just on acoustic guitar.
He was actually a good deal funnier and less grumpy than I expected too. He kept...

Absolutely marvellous stuff over the last two evenings in Vicar Street. Last night in particular was like one of those 'an audience with' shows where celebrities make up most of the crowd. Brian Kennedy, Joe from the Walls, Declan from the 4 of us and, erm, Mickey Joe Harte!!
A nice moment on Tuesday was when a single piece of confetti, left over from The Flaming Lips shows earlier in the week, floated across the stage during a particularly quiet song.

If you are going tonight (18th Nov and after); have an amazing time.
If you couldn't get tickets; I feel your pain, it took 6 years to get mine for a gig in the point by the Boss
One of the most amazing moments came when the band cleared the stage and left the tuba player alone to perform a 'call and response with the audience whilst Bruce play acted falling asleep at the piano with his guitar across his chest. The best vibe I've ever felt at a concert and the mu...

Can't believe it wasn't sold out and the Upper Circle wasn't even in use. Really outstanding gig, brought a little bit of the Arizona desert to the Olympia. Lots from Feast of Wire and their latest Garden Ruin. Some of the highlights: Yours and Mine, Quattro, Alone Again Or, Not even Stevie Nicks, Guero Canelo (outstanding with the whole audience joining in) Panic Open String, Roka (Jacob Valenzuela providing the Spanish vocals), Across the Wire.
The light show from the projector below us was...

Damien Rice in Vicar Street last night 5679 18
Started by Johnson
Anyone at Damien Rice in vicar st. last night Show was good but at the start of it he said the air con was being switched off due to the sound it would make. Fair enough I thought until as the gig progressed the place started to resemble a sauna! I was literally dripping wet coming out of there and I couldnt enjoy it properly because of the unbearable heat.
