Well Cluasers What did ye make of this one Myself and Goat Boy were very impressed. Thought the band were hittin' their stride when the curtains came down and they did seem to be enjoying themselves(no birds flipped to audience members with video cameras!).

Pretty good... but enough about them. What really impressed me was support act Fight Like Apes. I know they're a fairly big band in certain circles, but it was the first time I'd seen them and I was a little surprised they were playing second fiddle to a band who (as good as they are) wouldn't have a huge amount of clout. Anyway, I thought it was a fantastic, loud, manic thirty minutes. They had the crowd in the palm of their hand by the end and even though I only know one or two songs I was a l...

Anyone at the Smashing Pumpkins RDS gig ? 2398 0
Started by John Doe
I was there myself. The sound was surprisingly not sh*te given that the RDS main hall is notorious for poor quality sound. Other than that I can't say it was the gig of a lifetime by any means.

Anyone at BSP in Whelan's I'm not familiar with much of their stuff, but they have a curiously Mid/Late 80s 'Classic Indie' sound - reminded me of any number of bands from that era. Some good songs in evidence, though the ones sung by the main vocalist had a lot more power than the ones sung when he changed places with the bassist - and the bassist ended up singing a lot. I enjoyed the bit where they dragged an air raid siren on stage for the finale of one of the songs, and there was definitely...

Pretty good gig but still slightly disappointing. Listening to their music you get the impression they would be quite incendiary live but it wasn't really the case last night. The main problem being it wasn't BLOODY LOUD ENOUGH! Is it just me or are gigs getting quieter Also they're sorely lacking in stage presence. Maybe I had too high expectations...great band all the same but for now they remain a second-rate Mogwai, which is a good position to be in, seeing as Mogwai are the best band on th...

Brilliant gig. The gig received little promotion- no mention on Tom Dunne's gigs of week, not even listed in yesterday's Irish Times Ticket. It's to our eternal shame that the best band to come out of this country in recent years are ignored by the Irish media while 2 British acts playing in different venues on the same night (British Sea Power and Scroobius Pip vs Dan Le Sac, excellent bands also) receive plenty of publicity. Nevertheless, there was huge turnout which was good to see.
So g...

Absolutely briliant performance, only slightly spoiled by a combination of a) stupid hecklers and b) a slightly over-reverential audience (e.g. someone shouting out 'do you mind if we sing along' and assorted goons shouting 'you're gorgeous').
Gorgeous she ain't, talented she is. Great voice, great guitar playing, great piano playing. Good selection of material from White Chalk, Songs from the City and even some much older stuff - including the only rendition of Sheelagh na Gig that she'...

Gig of the year. Simple as that. That acoustic session with Owen Pallett outside Whelans will live long in my memory. Cue sh1t-eating grins for the rest of the night, and into today. Marvellous!

I thought this was an excellent show!
Her voice was amazing, not to mention she has a fair oul' handle of the guitar/piano/fx loops... Her band were quite the entertaining bunch of chaps aswell.
The place was rammed and the sound was perfect, atleast it was from where I was seated on the balcony. Favourite tune: I Feel it All
Any other thoughts

A really good gig, hindered by the appalling sound. There are times when I feel as if they're just going through the motions but their catalogue of songs renders it impossible to be ambivalent about them. Almost everything from 'TOTBL' in particular sounded fantastic.

Does anyone know who they were From the look of them and just hearing their first tune I though I was going to hate them, but they ended up being pretty enjoyable to watch..
One particular song was VERY similar to Talking Heads - Once in A Lifetime, but it was good catchy stuff all the same...

Anyone at the gig last night.
I thought it was a cracking gig, defin one of the best gigs i was ever at.
The only disappointment was that they didnt play anything of the first 2 albums, but thats just a minor fault.
Highlights were probably, Daughter of the Soho Riots and The Geese of Beverly Roads.
The gig also featured some crowd-surfing by Matt during Mr November at the end of the 1st encore.

Any chance of some unfawning opinionon Arcade Fire's gigs during the week. I was only present on the Tues night and 3 songs in, felt as if I was about to witness one of the best gigs I'd ever been to. But then..........it just sagged quite dramatically in the middle for me. Case in point - My Body Is A Cage - the ong doesn't work on the album and it didn't work in the live setting.
True the band generated quite a buzz but the songs in the middle let things down somewhat. Bloody excellent gig...
