Anyone know much about... 2167 1
Started by off the post
...a band called Black Mountain. They came 2nd in the Rough Trade top 100 albums of the year (yes I know, another top 100 but at least its composed by a reputable label). Anyway, don't see much about them on the net. When I do a google, I mostly get tourist stuff for some Black Mountain in the States....

This newish Aussie outfit consist of members from The Sleepy Jackson. They have a couple of Ep's and a pretty cool album, which I have heard but still to locate, that has some cracking tunes on it like 'O Yeah'.

Russian Music???? 2982 5
Started by fiddlechick
Just got Bering Strait, a Russion bluegrass band's eponomously named album, who don't sound particularly Russian except for one song Porushka Paranya which I think is fantastic.
I love the sound of Russian and would like to get into some other Russian artists but would like some recommendations.
Anybody into Russian music

Anyone know these guys Just got their album 'The Best Little Secrets are Kept' on strong recommendation from a good friend and great music source...seriously good dirty funky rock n roll with plenty of beats and vocals not unlike Jack White in places and a real T-Rex vibe at times.
Theres also something very Monty Python about it I think... but then that could be just me.

has anyone ever heard this
Its a reggae version of the pink floyd album, made by some houseband for a label (cant remember which), pretty damn groovy though, and apparently 'wizard of oz compatible' but i havent tried that yet.
Recommended though fo sho, Great Gig in the Sky and Money are excellent.

Just wondering if anybody saw Kill City Defectors in Crawdaddy last sun evening. It my first time seeing them and was really blown away. They are funky, energetic, tight, with a rock/dance edge. The crowd really seemed to love it.
I strongly recomend checking them out the next time they play.

Ryan Adams Cold Roses 2607 12
Started by fiddlechick
His new album which is out here next week. You can stream it from the website www.ryan-adams.com. I downloaded from file sharing and am very impressed! I liked Rock n Roll okay even if the Dublin gig was pretty poor except for Love is Hell songs. (think it was just Monsters)
Cold Roses is quite like heartbreaker. It's a double LP. Can see a good few of the songs becoming favs after a few listens.
Anyone else hear it

Hi Folks,
Heard a great Irish new band last week that stopped me in my tracks – ‘God is an Astronaut’ Anyone heard of them It’s not ‘dancey’ enough to be called dance music, its not rockin enough to be called rock music and theres a big electronic element. If you are a fan of Sigur Ros these guys are definitely worth checking out. By all accounts they put on a very unusual audiovisual live show. You can check out their videos on their web sites - a little disturbing at times but very atmosp...

Started by stephen
If any of you were as entralled by 69 Love Songs, the Magnetic Fields stone cold classic from a few years back, then you should catch them live.
I saw them in the Royal Festival Hall here in London on Sunday and they were so indescribably lovely.
I see they are playing the Olympia on the 31st October.
Highly recommended etc etc
