Night Shift cancelled 1934 0
Started by dudley
Bah
'Dear Friends,
It is with great regret and a pain in my heart that I break the news today that as and from the 31st December 2008, Nightshift is to be taken off air.
Channel 6 was bought over by TV3 a few months ago and the new owners have made the decision to remove Nightshift from next year's schedule.
The very last show will air from 10pm – 1am on New Years Eve.
On a personal level, may I say that Michelle and I are completely bewildered, and absolutely ...

2XM (dab) launches on Dec1. 2886 3
Started by Mully
Looks interesting, esp the KCRW linkup.
“There’s a bit of an underground vibe about 2XM in that it’s totally, 100 about the music,” proffers 2XM Scheduler Mark McCabe. “It’s not, ‘Hey, we want to be a commercial DJ like on 98 or 2FM’. It’s going to be a very different sort of radio station, with people who are prepared to fly by the seat of their pants and try something new.
“We’re also going to involve bands like Hot Sprocket, The Blizzards, Fight Like Apes and Republic Of Loose ...

Is All Christmas Music Rubbish? 2350 8

Just wondering really. I love the stuff, can't get enough of it. Come December Mariah becomes a glittering (!) star and Wham sound like the geniuses that they probably were.
What do you think
Just a small footnote for those who think all seasonal audio is worthless. Perhaps (... the self plug that followed has been deleted by a moderator...)

Booking bands 2865 2
Started by carry_grant
Just wondering if anyone on here has any idea of the average costs involved I've decided to try promoting bands in Cork but have little or no idea of what it would involve financially. For example, what's the going rate for bands now I'm thinking in terms of smaller acts (e.g. Harvest Ministers, American Music Club) but I'm intrigued as to what it would cost. Any ideas

Anyone ever been to a really awful gig and just wished they'd stayed at home
I went to see that Irish band Stand with a mate of mine a few years ago. He had had no one else to go with. They were absolutely horrendous and they played for something like 3 hours.
A few years ago, I went to see Fall out boy. all I knew about them was that they were a cool new american punk band and that they were playin just up the road from me in the ambassador. me and my girlfriend got in there and ...

Music Download Sites 3514 14
Started by starbelgrade
Can anyone recommend any good ones. From what I hear iTunes is not great for sound quality & their copyright protection means that you have to burn the MP3s to CD, then rip them back to your CD to remove it (I could be wrong though - I read that on a forum). I'm not looking for anything majorly obscure - I've to DJ at a party next month & I need to get some rat pack stuff, some old indie tunes, a bit of Elvis & some newer chart stuff like Kings of Leon & Estelle.

TRANS AM (USA) support from PROSTITUTE
Friday 24th October
The Village
Formed in 1990 near Washington DC, Trans Am’s multi-instrumental and varied approach to song-writing over the years have confounded many of their critics.
Rising to attention on the back of the post-rock/math-rock movement through their association with bands such as Tortoise, they demonstrated an eagerness to depart from the classic rock script, incorporating elec...
