Have You Heard The Mew(s)? 1686 5
Started by indiecater
Ok, the title might one of the toughest in history to recall but does anyone else think that Mew's 'And The Glass Handed Kites' is this years best album ('Funeral' was released last year...phew). It so vast and inspiring I'm even planning a trip to Copenhagen.....

The High Court has rejected a challenge to the granting of a radio licence to the Dublin station Phantom FM.
The challenge was launched by the Zed FM consortium which failed to win the alternative rock licence for the capital.

Brian Wilson, Teenage Fanclub and Fantasy Radio 2630 27
Started by Rev Jules
Was driving back from surfing achill last night and, the sea gods must have been with me, the radio was sick! Started with Brian Wilson and Band live in Copenhagen on RTE Radio 1, then switched to Cormac Battles who played Teenage Fanclub's 'Its All In My Mind' (he claims its a great song, it was my first listen, and I must agree) among other stuff then John Kelly had a one hour Steve Earle Special, man the 6.5 hour drive flew. Which brings me to my point, if y'all had to make a long drive home ...

i think there pretty good . they dont s**te on about how trendy they are . they dont even promote singles but get to no.1 in england.
And i was lucky enough to see them in whelans a while ago and they where deadly and where nice people as well not full of themselves because of the nme hype. but i know what i think i wanna hear what other people have to say about the predicted band of 2006

Last week saw the show return fro another season. But from now on, you have no excuses for missing it (or at least recording it) every Friday night.
Tonight has Mylo, Artic Monkeys, Miss Dynamite, Los De Abajo, Lizz Wright, Joseph Arthur and I think Ray Davies from The Kinks. BBC2 00:00

Damien Jurado 1335 2
Started by klootfan
Went along to damien jurado in whelans last night. Excellent gig. Even if he did only play one tune off of the 'I break chairs' album.
Whelans wasnt packed but I was still impressed with the respect shown by the crowd during songs, alot of which were just him and the guitar. You could have heard a pin drop during the songs, no talking or very little if any. Impressive.
The support act, dolorean, another american band, were equally good. An enjoyable night

irish music in ads 1823 7
Started by jaypers
Was wondereing if people had any opinions on the way certain irish bands are selling their material for use on advertisements etc. Do you think this is a good thing as it it gets your music out to a wider audience or is it maybe de-valueing your music if it isnt really a credible product thats being advertised

So long Sonny... 1405 4
Started by Dromed
Sonny Fisher, one of America's pioneering rockabilly artists, has died in Houston aged 73. Born Therman Fisher on a farm in Chandler, Texas, he was nicknamed 'Sonny'. His father sang cowboy songs and accompanied himself on guitar; when the young Sonny heard country music on the radi...
