Check out http://www.rte.ie/2fm/playlist.html and send in a request to hear this single, which is a charity fundraiser for the SE Simon Community. When asked about the single, Dan Hegarty, 2fm said: '79Cortinaz blew me away the first time I heard them. 1 Replies and 1606 Views Frank & Walters  1606  1 Started by  Nomington There was a topic not so long ago on whether or not the Frank & Walters were still relevant, and while I'm still not entirely sure what makes a band relevant, I think anyone who saw them last night will agree they are. It was an absolutely awesome gig and one of the most fun I've been to in ages. And some of their new songs were the highlight of the night, so in that respect, they are still creating great pop music as opposed to wearing out old material.

30 Replies and 6645 Views Chris de Burgh, musical genius!?  6645  30 Started by  Super Nintendo Chalmers It is at this time of year, that once we again we can all enjoy the opportunity to listen to one of the finest xmas songs of all time, as it regains its place on local, national and international radio: 'A spaceman came a travelin'' by Chris de Burgh. it also reminds what a pity it is that de Burgh does not receive the respect and recognition (in Ireland) that his obvious songwriting talent deserves. Songs like the above and 'lady in Red' and 'patricia' show he has song writing ability rivale...

29 Replies and 5037 Views lack of songwritng talent  5037  29 Started by  deco_murph@hotmail.com If people are really honest with themselves, there is a serious lack of songwriting talent in the music industry today. Very average bands and performers are touted as 'genius'.The likes of coldplay are a blatant ripoff of kate bush/u2, green day are an average punk band franz ferdinand are a joke as are the stone roses. During the 70's and 80's the standard of writing was far superior to today. the choice on offer today is pick the best of a bad bunch. Of irelands contribution only the walls an...

11 Replies and 1907 Views Whipping Boy - What to expect?  1907  11 Started by  indiecater The last time I saw Ferghal McKee was in the Tivoli Theatre. He had just wrapped a roll of cling film around his head and was trying a tricky climbing manoeuvre over a set of drums. Now almost a decade later I can't figure out what to expect for Sunday's gig. Let's hope the theatrics are still there, the music, no doubt will look after itself. Let's hope they haven't gone all fat and lairy.... ps intro act are God Is An Astronaut, up there with Michael Knight for Irish band of the year.
