4 Replies and 1608 Views Who's Gonna Win The Choice Music Awards?  1608  4 Started by  Atticus Finch Hal Bell X1 Julie Feeney Nick Kelly The Chalets Plus other Nominees which i can't remember off the top of my head I'd like to see HAL win it cos i think it's the best Irish album released in ages but the honour will prob go to Bell X1. But if i was a betting man, which i'm not, i'd throw €20 on the dark horse Julie Feeney.

14 Replies and 1268 Views Pay per view??  1268  14 Started by  Dromed I was looking at the David Bowie website recently and decided to sign up for the newsletter etc. On trying to join the site I see that if you want to be a member you have to pay over $60 membership fee....WHA!!!! https://secure.ultrastar.com/davidbowie/signup/ I know Bowie has been a bit of a web pioneer but is this the norm for uber-stars these days In light of accessibility on the internet these days and the like, I was pretty shocked to see that. 16 Replies and 1410 Views Munich  1410  16 Started by  Carlsberg Well, i bit the bullet on Sunday night, strutted my stuff up to the Savoy cinema on my lonesome so as to focus only on the subject in question. What are peoples thought on it I was somewhat familiar with the subject but by no means would I have known the exact ins and outs of what happened that day. At no point did i feel like I was watching a Spielberg film. I think its his finest 3 hours ever and Eric Bana, on the back of this performance, really should be getting the call from Oscar ...

10 Replies and 1313 Views Anyone at Director?  1313  10 Started by  Norman Schwarzkopf I repeat, anyone at Director last week I quite liked em. Some of it was really catchy and belongs on the radio. I left thinkin 'they could be really big!' A bit of Franz, a dash of Kaiser, a sprinkle of Weezer with Neil Hannon controlling the wooden spoon.

3 Replies and 1497 Views Hot Press Magazine  1497  3 Started by  godtalkingsoul Although it may look like a cheap plug for Hit The North in the latest edition of Hot Press I can assure you that is not the case, what it is is a request for someone to lend me their login details for about an hour or so (only during work hours due to practices and gigs) so that I can get a copy of the article on our web space. I have fundamental difficulties with paying to buy the magazine and also paying to access their online content when all I want is to show people one freaking article!...

0 Replies and 1197 Views Latest in Phantom fm farce  1197  0 Started by  nerraw Getting tiresome at this stage LANDMARK legal challenge will commence this week to determine the fate of Dublin's alternative rock radio station. It will be crucial for two of the country's most powerful consortiums of music-media moguls but politicians and senior civil servants will also be watching closely to see what, if any, implications it has for the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI). The Zed FM consortium headed by Bob Geldof is challenging the manner in which the BCI aw...

1 Replies and 1387 Views Beth Orton last night...  1387  1 Started by  MACgirl Fraid can't be as positive about Beth Orton as I was about Broken Social Scene. She was very, very nervous and said she felt like she was playing at a music conference because everyone was sitting down in the audience in Vicar St. Haven't gotten her new album so maybe that's what it was or maybe it was the idiots behind me in the balcony who talked the entire way through her set, but I just wasn't bowled over. Her voice is really unique and I thought she was brilliant on the older songs from Cen...

8 Replies and 1731 Views Broken Social Scene - best gig in months  1731  8 Started by  MACgirl Still smiling after the gig on Saturday night, amazing performance from the 10 musicians on stage. The drummer was fantastic and at one stage there were two of them providing the pumping beats. The trombone, trumpet and saxaphone opened the show and the guitarists were brilliant throughout. There was also keyboard and violin included, such energy and powerful playing I haven't witnessed in a while. The singing was spot on as well. They kept it going over the nearly 3 hour set. Kevin Drew and Bre...
