Alabama 3 on Other Vices 2485 22
Started by Rev Jules
Apparently, Alabama 3 are on the next episode of Other Voices
Programme 6 - 1st March
Iarla Ó Lionáird, Jape, Asian Dub Foundation, Alabama 3.
Lets hope they are better than the load of jokers who have appeared on it so far, Laura Cantrell excepted. And why a church Is this a gospel show No. Is wee Daniel appearing on it No. Why
The big joke is the series ends with Nizlopi. I mean, that JCB song is pure cat. James Blunt and JCBs, christ in heaven.
As for the Wainwright offsp...

Irish Bands Abroad 2704 21
Started by Gar
Some Irish bands are beginning to get some more exposure across international waters. But are these the acts that the international music media should be taking note of What I'm talking about is Humanzi featuring in NME, Bell X1 being mentioned on the ad's for Oxegen, The Walls, Guggenheim Grotto and The Chalets appearing on KCRW. Do these acts represent the best talent coming out of the Irish scene or has the true indie heroes yet to come to fruitation

The Things/Channel 1 Gig 1667 6
Started by raoul
Anyone go to the free gig in TBMC on friday night Only got to see the end of Channel 1 but they seemed to be going down well with the (sizeable) crowd. The Things performance was pure unadulterated rock and roll. I haven't seen so much moshing in a gig in a long time. The bouncers had to break it up a few times but lots of fun and mayhem had by all!!

Jack Johnson in freak Bundoran shark attack 2634 2

Good grief. Just read that review of the surfer lads concert in the point. Am I missing something here To these ears the man is as bland as a pancake without honey. Not that far removed from the James Blunt school of colourless insipidity (ya know what I mean).
Please advise before I reset my musical compass and start reappraising the Stereophonics gift to humanity.

The Negative Artic's Review 1328 10
Started by bonzo
Just read the 'negative' review of the Arctics. As we all know, most reviews for this album are rave. I was enjoying the review and found it interesting until the last paragraph:
'To be honest I’m not sure how I feel about “Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not”, '
Thats when it seemed clear I'd just wasted my time reading the review in the first place. The net point I think was that the lyrics are good but the music is not the best. If you're going to review something surely you sh...

A True talent.... to write crap 2159 16
Started by Nomington
Not that it needs pointing out how pathetic and embarrassing James Blunt (vocal chords) is... but I just heard one of his songs on the radio and did a double take when I heard some of the lyrics, I had to look them up, the verse is as follows;
I know your fears and you know mine.
We've had our doubts but now we're fine,
And I love you, I swear that's true.
I cannot live without you.
Who I ask you, who is God's name considered this petty whiner for Electric Picnic last year!!!

Did you watch it What did you think Thought Rufus didn't pick great songs to open with, definitely didn't impress my housemates who'd never heard him before. April's Fool from 1998 He's so good live but that didn't come across in the first songs. Improved as the show went on. Thought Martha was great, her gig was really good earlier this year. Loved the song they performed together. Poor Julie Feeney was really nervous, really like her album but didn't think the songs sounded great last night...

Was passing Golden Discs the other day and saw this poster with a huge lizard's eye staring out at me and I thought, 'oh, new Jurrasic Park movie' but no, its the new Rodrigo y Gabriella album; 'oh look we are mexicans and we play Metallica on classical guitars', which begs the question, is David Icke right and are my least favourite guitar duo really alien masters of the universe controlling the world (or at least MCD) Answers

Hello All
Well its official, Fierce Panda and Red Elephant Music Management have teamed up.
REMM will now represent the label in an A&R/Scouting capacity and have just opened their post boxes in anticipation of hundreds of cracking demo's.
We won't make promises, but just go under the ethos that every demo we get will be given time of day. The labels history for anyone who is not familiar with them can be found www.fiercepanda.co.uk and historically, they have been a singles label wh...

Redneck Picnic - Electric Picnic Goes Country 1218 9
Started by Rev Jules
It appears that country music is now hip, yes I am happy about that as I have been a lone voice in the wilderness on its behalf for sometime &91;)
According to promoter John Reynolds, a country music festival is on the cards for summer 2006 along the lines of Electric Picnic.
I guess this is the year for it, what with 'Walk The Line' riding high and 'My Name is Earl' bringing redneck humour to the masses on C4...'a country fair is like Disneyland for poor people'.
And before anyone me...

Judging a winner, the Digital Media Awards... 1000 1
Started by eoghan
This may be old news for some of you but it only crossed my path today...
Earlier in the month the winners of this year's Digital Media Awards were announced. The 'Best Music Site' award (which CLUAS was considered for but did not make the shortlist) went to the iTunes Ireland website. iTunes also won the big kahuna 'Grand Prix' prize as well on the night. But... I note that Liam Donohoe (Manager Apple of Apple Ireland) was one of the judges (http://www.digitalmedia.ie/judges.html).
