DJs..Whats it all about 1417 16
Started by klootfan
I was at a gig in the TBMC no too long ago, where the opening act was a DJ set by 2 girls.
The girls had their setup on the main stage in full view of all, this I suppose reflected the fact that they were the warm up.
But it kinda had me wondering. What is the role of the DJ, should the DJ take a back seat to the music they are playing, hence why do we need to even see the DJ. I can understand needing access to the DJ, if they are of the kind who takes requests from the audience, but if n...

Lotus Lullaby win National Student Music Awards 1135 1
Started by Una
was at this last night. Thought LL would win because their performance was excellent and the dude's voice is pretty good. But IMO LOST should've won - they have far more potential as a young band, and their style is sharper. Lotus' tunes are very dated. Anyone else there

Hi-Fi Question 1354 8
Started by Protein biscuit
Have a quick question that perhaps some audiophiles on the board can help me out with Have a nice enough hi-fi/separates set-up but my CD player is skipping and causing me much displeasure. I've tried to isolate the problem by checking the connections etc. and these are all fine. As the CD player was boxed for a while i thought it might be condesation on the lens but after giving it a couple of days it's still skipping. So, what other reasons could it be Dust on the lens that a cleaning might ...

Leya on the View?? 1569 5
Started by mannaman
Yo
Just wondering did anyone see Leya on the View last night
I thought it was quite cool but then Im a long term convert!
It was a chilled out affair last night - gareth on the double bass, hammy on the brushes ,ciaran on the acoustic and mike on keys- with one of their mates guesting on cello...
Just wondering what you thought and just being brave enough to open it up to the vultures - (joking of course!)

Pretty poor I thought, I haven't seen them in about 15 months and in the intervening time they seem to have cut down on the fantastic walls of noise they used to have and gone far dancier.

How 'bout Alex Chilton? 1379 3

The great man's playing Whelans April 25th, but I can't quite decide if I want to go. Love the old Big Star stuff and really enjoyed that reunion tour they did about 10 years ago with the Posies. But I haven't heard what material he's playing on this tour. Most of his solo stuff that I've heard has been mediocre. I really don't want to go along and come out thinking he was terrible...

The Sopranos - Name that tune 1273 15
Started by Protein biscuit
So i'm watching a repeat of The Sopranos on More 4 and enjoying it immensely as i always do, episode ends, credits roll and a kick-ar*s tune kicks in to see the episode out. The chours goes 'You can't put you're arm around Ray (i think)' and it's a brilliant song with angular guitars, a guy and a girl shouting the chorus and the whole things just chugs along brilliantly. Have no idea who it was and am therefore coming to the Cluas well of musical knowledge to see if any of you big brain's on bre...
