1 Replies and 1356 Views Deerhoof to support Radiohead in Dublin  1356  1 Started by  Scales Deerhoof to support Radiohead in Europe Deerhoof are to support Radiohead on their sold out August dates in Edinburgh (Meadouw Bank Stadium), Dublin (Marlay Park) and Amsterdam (Heineken Music Hall). Deerhoof have supported Radiohead on their June dates in California. The Amsterdam show on August 28th, the last of the current tour, originally had Willy Mason on the bill as support act. Radiohead had to reschedule their May 10th show because of the death of Phil Selway's mother.

I know Cowboy X are playing in Crawdaddy, but I saw them quite recently, so I don't know if I want to go. Then there's that new jazz place on Capel st which might be worth checking out. Any other suggestions

12 Replies and 1404 Views Are the Go! Team manufactured?  1404  12 Started by  stroller This might be old news to other people on the board but apparently only one person is responsible for composing and recording all of the music released by the Go! Team. The six people who perform live, appear in music videos and do all the press were recruited via a newspaper advert much like the Spice Girls. The person who's actually responsible for the music doesn't actually go out on tour. Has anyone else heard this

40 Replies and 7317 Views This is great, oxegen article  7317  40 Started by  nerraw From the Sunday Mirror in their own restrained manner complete with quotes from the oxegen message board. TERRIFIED music fans feared for their lives as drunken gangs ran amok through the official Oxegen campsite at Punchestown racecourse last weekend. As more than 80,000 people attended the two-day music festival, revellers who stayed in the festival campsites slammed the organisers through a chatroom on the official Oxegen website. One music fan said a drunken mob set fire to tents ...

2 Replies and 1390 Views Another Festival bites the dust ...  1390  2 Started by  Mully The largest festival on the Protestant side of the community in the North has been called off this year because of funding problems. The Maiden Festival in Derry is a celebration of the Protestant Apprentice Boys, who shut the city gates against the forces of Catholic King James in December 1688. In the past, it has featured bluegrass music, a pageant explaining the city's history, fireworks and children's events. However, the organisers have cancelled the event for this year, saying th...

Makes you yearn even more for some new MBV material. Better off just buying 'Drain Cosmetics' off iTunes. The Postal Service Give Up. Long-overdue purchase made recently. Starts off with the subline late-night reverie that is 'District Sleeps Alone Tonight' and then just gets better. Great backing vocals from the 'fantastic' (quote/unquote, Tom Dunne) Jenny Lewis. 35 Replies and 4524 Views Don't Give Up The Day Job  4524  35 Started by  Gar After being very unimpressed by the setlist of Bob Dylan's radio show, getting fustrated at Steven Van Zandt for holding up the filming of The Sopranos and reading Alex Kapranos' stale coloumn in the Guardian on numerous occasions, I feel the need to declare that the majority of musicians should just stick to their day job. Are there any musicians out there who balance two careers with an equal amount of prestige
