Razorlight New Album - Views 3927 1
Started by miwadi
Just got new Razorlight album (thanks allofmp3.com). I really liked 1st album, one my favourites of last few years. Have listened to new one once this morning and sounds like a cross between Talking Heads 'Little Creatures' (not always a good thing!) and Modest Mouse. Lacks the frantic enenrgy of the first one, but there is still something there and Borrel has a great rock vocal, which always sounds good. Reviews have been luke warm, but I think this is somewhat unfair. So now over to the panel....

PsychoFest 2 Review 2677 24

Just read it now.
Not the 'Slap-on-the-back-aton' I was expecting.
I agreed with alot of it, but its more a comment on the idea of PF, not an actual review of the gig ... 2 bands covered

MP3 player 1535 2
Started by Vent My Spleen
Folks,
After a (reasonably sober) night out last week, I discovered the screen on my 4 year old iPod cracked. So, I'm in the mix for a new MP3 player. Having had a 20Gig version, I'm not really interested in anything that size again - basically, I discovered that I had 15G of music I rarely if ever listen to.
Anyhow, any recommendations on a 1G to 5G player with decent software for making playlists I like the size of the USB players but really want the ability to create playlists (one of...

apologies for starting a new thread on these guys, but I couldn't find the old one.
Anyway, got the album today, it's great! Especially Insistor - love that song so much.
But the weird thing is, I hadn't heard most of it already (I thought) yet when I listened to it today, I recognised loads of the songs - I don't really listen to radio and they weren't on my iPod, so I can only conclude that I dreamt knowing them, or that I am a member of the band secretly. OR that I got abducted by TnT...

Plug on 2FM - Who was it!? 1651 2
Started by Vent My Spleen
Was on my way home in the old jammer last night trying to escape some innane discussions on the talk radio stations when I happened upon Fanning who was discussing the demise of Hot Press with John Meagher. The jist of it has been done to death here (never gives a bad review to local acts, in thrall to the record companies for revenue, lamenting the demise of interesting articles).
Anyway, at the end, he reads out a few messages from listeners, one of which says the old interweb has complete...

Axl Rose Demands Full Roast Dinner
Axl Rose sparked a riot at a concert after refusing to appear on stage until he had been given a full roast dinner.
The Guns N' Roses singer kept the crowd at Newcastle's Metro Arena waiting on Thursday night for over an hour in the sweltering heat as he tucked in to his meal.
His behaviour didn't go down too well with the thousand strong audience, who started jeering and throwing objects at the empty stage.
Concert goer Saskia Green says, 'It was r...

Great Albums Ruined by One Track 2097 19
Started by miwadi
Going on Holidays on Friday and Bored hence......
Have you a favourite album that has been ruined by one track you always skip or don't upload.
U2's Unforgetable Fire ruined by Pride
Leonard Cohens I'm Your Man ruined by Jazz Police
Talking Heads Remain in Light ruined by The Overload
Stone Roses - Don't Stop
I am sure there are more, but Jazz Police must be the worst.

The Ghostwood Project 1648 1
Started by Antistar
Saw these on Saturday in a short support slot and to say I was blown away is an understatement! Three-piece post-rock instrumental band from Delvin, Co.Westmeath but based in Galway. You gotta check these out live. If there's another new young band in the country as gifted and exciting as these, then I'll eat my Humanzi album (If I had one, I don't have one of course because I don't like their haircuts and their disconcerting dead-eyed stare).

check out this new Killers track:

now I know, it doesn't sound anything like Arcade Fire really, but why is Flower's voice slightly warbly and um 'vunerable' all of a sudden, do you reckon he's trying to inject some Win magic in there

Hard Fi - worst live act in recent memory? 1511 16
Started by Una
this is something I've been meaning to get off my chest, but keep forgetting
Picked up a CD/DVD called 'Hard Fi in operation', which is basically just a DVD of one of their gigs and then remixes and stuff, but I honestly couldn't believe how shocking the live footage was. Now, I actually like Hard Fi - they have three or four really good pop tunes - but what's with the lead singer's (Richard something) penchant for completely replacing the phonetics of words with different sounds It's all K...

Tom Waits vs Ticket Touts. 1208 3
Started by Mully
Interesting way of beating them ..
Tom Waits is attempting to stamp out the touts.
Punters who have bought tickets for his up coming US shows through online auction sites will not be allowed into the gigs.
All eight dates of his tour, his first in the US for seven years, sold out immediately, leading to many tickets being sold on online and through ticket brokers. However, all these tickets are assumed to be fraudulent and many may be counterfeit.
Waits along with the venues, manag...
