19 Replies and 1539 Views Oh, So Rare  1539  19 Started by  Gar Whether you have an original 7'' from a band who have now gained global success or a dusty EP from a songwriter that should be worth something in a few years time, most music collectors (or fans) have a few pieces on their hands that they consider to be very valuable. What rare additions are in your collection

20 Replies and 2606 Views How important was No Disco to you?  2606  20 Started by  stroller When I was weighing up options for 'The First Album To Change Your Life' thread I realised that virtully every artist I thought of was introduced to me via No Disco. My teenage years were spent in the musical wasteland of 1990's Athlone. Back then I was too young to get into clubs and the internet hadn't taken off in the midlands so the only way I could hear decent music was through the selections of Donal Dineen and to a lesser extent Uaneen Fitzsimmons. They introduced me indie bands that w...

23 Replies and 2771 Views Just introducing myself  2771  23 Started by  Motor Sounds Records I thought it would be bad manners not to, as I don't know anyone on this forum. My names Andy, I run Motor Sounds Records and play in a couple of bands. I like Garage, Rock n Roll, Punk-Blues type stuff. I'm working on developing a drink problem, and I spend far to much time staring at a computer screen, I'm getting a nice radiation tan. So, Hi to all.

5 Replies and 1083 Views Dylan on the Radio  1083  5 Started by  stephen http://www.whitemanstew.com/2006/05/12/bob-dylans-theme-time-radio-hour/ As the build up continues to Dylan's new release, I thought I'd remind people of his brilliant radio show. Each week he takes a topic and plays his favourite tunes, mixed with his take on the world. Any of you familiar with his Chronicles from a few years back will know that Dylan's laidback, laconic style is well suited to the airwaves. Anyway, the link above allows you to download all the shows so far. My favourite ...

20 Replies and 2020 Views Useless Album Filler  2020  20 Started by  Gar Does it annony anybody else when really good albums are hampered by intro's, outro's, skits and voiceover's Tons of hip-hop and rap albums have it with most not being funny or entertaining. But it's creeping into indie rock in the last few years too. Okay, we don't have the nine minute guitar intro that some 70's rock band would produce, but something as simple as the first track on the new album by Peter, Bjorn And John ruins the flow of the songs. Anybody ever pick up on any of this
