Why not Eamon Dorans???? 1997 16
Started by Man in a can
I went to a gig in Eamon Dorans on tuesday night, it is a new monthly night called 'Death Via Satellite'. I had a good time and i wondered why i havn't been to a gig in Dorans in years.
Why dont bands play in Eamon Dorans
1)Its a really nice shaped room for gigs.
2)Its location is perfect for both sides of the city for getting the last bus.
3)The beer has improved.
4)The sound for alazarussoul (the headline band) was great.
I have played many gigs in Dorans over the years and i have...

Got a mail about adding listings for this. Never give the UK one more than a cursory glance really but it might help new local bands get a leg up..

Contacts for Reviewers needed 1682 8
Started by Motor Sounds Records
Hi Boys and Girls, has anybody out there got contacts for reviewers or music journos in General, I'm thinking Hotpress and that, but all others would be useful. I dont want to just send in randonly, stuff for review, I'd like to get in contact first, being away up here in the sticks, its not easy to just meet up with Niall Stokes if you know what I mean.
Cheers
Andy

Charlotte Gainsbourg 1107 4
Started by comet
Just listening to the album now to see what it's all about and God I don't like it at all! Every song is a whispered, breathy affair in a snotty kind of London accent, I'm just finding it really irritating ..... and it's getting great reviews everywhere including Cluas. Can't see myself listening to this album again in a hurry maybe i might listen to one or two of the tracks on their own.

New York show (from NME)
Damien Rice performs tiny show
Damien Rice performed for an audience of around 200 people in New York at the weekend (September 15) - and was introduced by Bono.
The star played a surprise show at the Hudson Hotel, watched by a supermodel-heavy crowd.
Introducing Rice, U2 frontman Bono said: 'What you're about to hear and see is like being at a Bob Dylan gig in the early Sixties or a Cat Stevens gig in the early Seventies or James Taylor, or something extra...

Hot Press Frames' New Album Poor Review Shock! 3709 27
Started by Antistar
I don't believe it!!!! Are my eyes deceiving me Hot Press have given the new Frames album a rather less than complimentary review. Well, I never! I heard a few tracks myself: the usual caterwauling from Hansard and shapeless songs straining to come up with any discernible hook. Pity the poor HP hack who had to listen to the whole album!

Convergence of MP3 & phone technologies 1471 17
Started by klootfan
I bought my first MP3 player a few years back. A 40gb iRiver H140.
A nice piece of kit at the time if not a little ugly. It was no iPod but in my humble opinion it offered more.
All was fine and dandy with this player until my misuse caused the harddrive to fail. So after much research I ordered an iAudio X5 with 60gb of memory.
Its only since Ive gotten Broadband in that ive started ripping my CDs, and i reckon I will only fill up maybe 60 of that if even.
However, even tough my p...
