two free tickets to The Stranglers tonight 1759 0
Started by Una
I have two tickets to The Stranglers in the Village tonight, but can't go.
So if anyone wants them, just reply. I got them for free, so I'll be giving them to whoever for free.
I will probably leave them in the Village for collection.

something to brighten up your morning 1941 8
Started by Una
Just got into work via broken umbrella and some prick driving through a puddle at 40 miles an hour soaking me. But then I checked out Hotpress.com's track by track review of Damien Rice's new record:
'‘Me, My Yoke And I’:
On the other hand, there’s a fist. ‘Me, My Yoke And I’ hinges around a mesmeric guitar figure, distorted vocal (“I moan like a big dog”) and general fractiousness siphoned straight from PJ Harvey’s Rid Of Me. Watch this one scare the crap out of the David Gray brigade at g...

Smog 3115 21
Started by Gar
Always tended to avoid anything by Smog (Bill Callahan) because he seemed to be well known more for his relationships with Cat Power and Joanna Newsom, rather than for his music. However, a guy in work gave me a lend of 'Red Apple Falls' this week, and I really like it.
Anyone recommend any of his other stuff
And did he play Dublin recently

No Music Day - Nov21 1554 17
Started by comet
Anyone read that article in the Observer Music Monthly at the weekend
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/omm/story/0,,1892833,00.html
Bill Drummond (KLF) has christened Nov 21st No Music Day, a day without music when you leave the cds in their cases and your ipod at home......no gigs either!
so who plans to observe No Music Day here does it mean you can't log onto cluas.com, yes I think so. Can't say I really see the point of it myself but maybe theres something to it, might give it a try.

The Wilco thread 6251 43
Started by Peejay
I've only been dipping in and out of this board for a few months now, I'm not sure if Wilco have been discussed before.
They got alot of mentions in the favourite band thread, so why not start a thread of their own.
I figure it would be a good question to ask what your favourite album of theirs is, since each of the five albums released (barring maybe the first one) has taken on an identity of its own. I've spoken to people before who love Yankee Hotel Foxtrot but don't particularly ca...

...i do want something that i don't have to give 100 attention to via headphones and that the melodies and beauty will slowly and surely make their way into my head and i'll want to sing... it can't offend my family eit...

i hope they sort out the sound in meeting house square and the smell in the hub.

What a let down. Advertised as songwriters discussing the craft of songwriting, I thought, this sounds promising.
Instead we got half an hour of hyper jump cut photography with tedious soundbites from a load of pschologists and sociologists using big words to tell us all that, shock, horror...eh people love music. ( An unintentionally hilarious low point came from some pretentious twat talking about what a masterpiece of musical construction 'I Should Be so Luc...
