Sufjan's Christmas box-set 1633 4
Started by aidan
I listened to Sufjan Stevens' Christmas box-set - and it's great. Not in any way as mawkish or syrupy as I half-feared, just a fun set of songs.
I've also just heard 'Christmas Wrapping' by The Waitresses, so now I feel all Christmassy and stuff. Yay!

Fellow Boarders, i would like to take this opportunity to be super-cheesy and wish ye all a rockin' Christmas and a rollin' Happy New Year. Sincerely, i throughly enjoy reading the various musings and posts on this site on a daily basis and am grateful for the existence of Cluas and Cluasers who vent, spleen and simply pontificate in the midst of the musical Milky-Way through which we pilot our ear-pods.

psychedelic Irish TV music from the past! 1708 1
Started by aidan
here are links to two mind-blowing versions of 'wanderly wagon', one of the greatest irish TV themes ever:
this version has a kicking four-on-the-floor bass drum - pure scissor sisters!!!:
http://www.youtube.com/watchv=kG1O4bZNrcU&mode=related&search=
and this one is just a pure LSD trip, complete with '70s rock guitar (I love the little-drummer-boy snare rolls at 0:44 seconds!):

Just bought one, I reckon if i don't like the lineup it'll be very easy to sell. With the festival staying at 32,500 capacity I am certain these tickets are going to be super hard to get next summer.

Quite an idiosyncratic choice of best 20 of the year.
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/omm/story/0,,1966639,00.html
Amy Winehouse at 5 I found Lambchop's latest offering a real snoozefest. The Killers, Mastodon, The Feeling!!
People... let me know if I'm going mad or is this just a deliberately obtuse (though, I will admit, intriguing) list.

Damien Jurado Monday 1164 0
Started by klootfan
Anyone else catch Damien Jurado on monday in whelans. Really enjoyed it. Nice corwd, very very little yapping from the audience and some nice banter from Damien and the band.
His new stuff sounded great. Sounds was very good on the night.
The problem with damo is that he releases so many albums its hard to keep up.

Pulp Fiction - the edited version 1693 3

Hmmm... intriguing.
But the main reason I've started this thread is that I've noticed that songs that appear on the soundtrack to the movie are now effectively cliches and have lost their value.
I don't think there has been a decent soundtrack album for a long long time. Maybe Lost In Translation

Don't know if this topic has already been mentioned on Cluas, but I could never figure out why I couldn't seem to tolerate listening to 'Songs for the Deaf' by Queens of the Stonge Age all the way through. And before you say it, it's not just because it's crap.
Normally anything I'd buy I'd give a good few listens to before making a judgement on, as I've found time and again stuff I'm not taken with intially eventually becomes a favorite.
The link to this (long) a...

According to legend, George Clinton, out of his mind on Orange Sunshine, told Eddie Hazel to play the first half of the song like his mother had just died, and then the second half as if he had found out she was alive.
This version isn't Eddie Hazel apparently.
Can all you people who know about music put up their fave YouTube video / live ...
