66e, The Rags & Royseven gone AWOL? 3085 12
Started by thethirdplace
What happened to these bands
66e, The Rags and Royseven I heard the latter sacked their manager recently so perhaps might explain some of that. Did the Rags split or was that just a rumour. Was always a 66e fan & loved the debut but having spent some time abroad recently i am a bit out of touch.

Anyone see the programme about this guy on RTE on Tuesday night Apparently he's Dundalk's answer to Mark E. Smith. I was certainly intrigued enough to want to investigate him further.

Of Montreal to play Crawdaddy in August 2260 3
Started by Norman Schwarzkopf
These lads (or is it just Kevin Barnes) are playing Crawdaddy August 1st. Looking forward to it. Really like Satanic Panic In The Attic and The Sunlandic Twins but the last one hasnt done it for me. I find it a bit hard to listen to, less melodic and more shrill. Plus, the lyrics suggest he's in a bad place personally.
Anyone else into em For those who dont know em, I'd describe it as synthetic guitar pop. Swooping, unpredictable Beatles/Beach Boys melodies and harmonies with bubbly...

A good night for bands 2453 4

Hi. This is probably in the wrong thread but, oh well.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good club night for seeing bands. Radiator is alright but the hub can be a bit dead. Psychotic Reaction is also wearing a bit thin. Is there anything I’m missing out on

Television - Marquee Moon 7127 8
Started by stephen
I listened Television's Marquee Moon this on the way to work this morning. Torn Curtain's glorious finale faded as I entered my building's foyet... The title track's extended guitar coda easily outstrips any modern day equivalent (the highly over-rated Impossible Germany perhaps).
What a gloriously brilliant record. Timeless is a word bandied around these days but I urge any of you who have never heard this record to seek it out immediately and play it as loudly as possible the first tim...

First time I heard it through bad speakers, it was borderline unlistenable. And I'm a patient fan.
It's better than I thought but still crazy. Big stompy riffs being hijacked by a malfunctioning bagpipe robot.

Morning.. Ello Ello
I went travelling around YouTube recently, last night in fact, and went hunting for Songs from Eurovision's earlier years which I remembered as being 'good at the time' and often found myself humming in recent years... cough cough..
However, having found all those tunes since, it must be said, my taste was up my Ass!!
Nevertheless, I did find this beauty (literally) from 2003's Eurovison and i would like to place it in the unofficial Cluas Top...

Nice review of this album in the Blogs section here:

I agree with Mr. Curran. Given the right mood its a great album. Very ornate late 60's pop with an eccentric Frenchness. If you like Beck's Sea Change then you'll see where alot of that albums ideas were 'inspired' from.

Apparently its the highest fine ever for the British and Irish phonographic industries.
Is this the death-knell for CDWow
In the global market of d'internet, where do companies like CDwow and Play.com fit in
Why should someone be denied the opportunity of purchasing a product more cheaply in from another country

Smashing Pumpkins - Irish concert? 2695 13
Started by aidan
I see that the Smashing Pumpkins are touring Europe this summer click here to see the dates, but no Irish concert scheduled so far. Would the tragic events of their Point concert be a factor, do you reckon Have they played in Ireland since then
Or perhaps, like Wilco, they're just going to give Ireland a miss
The Pumpkins are playing a small-ish indoor show in Paris next week (at the Grand Rex, a venue the size of the Olympia in Dublin) and headlining the Route du Rock festival ...
