Other Voices 2nd April 1888 4
Started by PeterQuaife
Just caught the last few songs of the show by a band I dont know (still dont know their name, anyone....), but really enjoyed. yer man has some voice. That 'sail on' could have come from the cannon of Ron Sexsmith or Tom McRae, but I doubt McRae would sing about bee's and honeypots

Jools Holland Live Show 1980 4
Started by starbelgrade
Did anyone see the show last night I'm sure it's total coincidence that the live version of the show started on the week after the 'Other Voices' series ended! Good idea though - live performances form the bands that will be on the Friday edition of the show (I'm presuming that's how it works).
I thought Black Kids were alright. Didn't rate Estelle's version of 'American Boy' though - the studio version's a lot better.
Nice not to have to listen to any whiney birds on acoustics o...

Whats your numero uno... ? 3789 19

Talk about your top of the pile, number one all-time favourite song. Alot of people say they couldn't just pick one song, but you can and you will. Its easy, just think of all your favourites and pick one. Write as much as you like about it, but no lists please.
So why do you love it When did you first hear it Did it have an immediate effect on you or was it a grower
Did you ever hear it performed live Do you play the song yourself Is there a definitive version, or is it just the...

Missed the first part of last night's show - tuned in just in time for the obligatory whiney acoustic female. Thought the Charlatans played really well, but Tim Burgess is a woeful live singer.. on record 'Black & Blue Eyes' and 'You're So Pretty..' both sound great, but the live vocals killed it.
He should invest in a couple of Helicon vox pedals - one with FX, the other to keep him in tune.. it's amazing the difference they make. The f**ker looks great though - he's aged about 2, maybe...

Weakest Glastonbury Headliners ever? 5808 31
Started by Quint
Jay-Z(), The Verve and Kings Of Leon( most overrated act of recent years) are the headliners. Don't all rush at once! Even as a big fan of The Verve myself, I don't think their druggy, introspective music suits a huge festival, let alone as headliners...anyone remember Slane Exactly.Bizarrely, Neil Diamond is also playing- as is Leonard Cohen! Never been, looks like I'll be watching it on TV this year also.

Anyone heard this new radio station I think it only broadcasts in the west & north west.... it's the usual pop shlock during the week, but Friday afternoon's show is presented by Hector & Tommy Tiernan - feckin gas stuff. Definitely a refreshing change from the lightweight 'current affairs' slop that Matt Cooper knocks out these days.

The programme last night was s**te. A plumpy, spotty Sinead O'Connor singing about 'Jah' (she must be hanging round with Damien Dempsey too much), some hippy chick with a nasty spot whining on an acoustic, Juno Fucking Falls with the most pretentious, Jeff Buckley rip-off dross I've heard in ages, a bunch of nordie rockers singing about joining a baptist church (wtf!), and an oul crusty american blues dude, who in fairness was the shows only redemption - and not for his generic, repetitive blue...
