So were any of the good citizens of Cluas at Turn's New Years Eve gig in Whelans I was and it rocked. As well as their own cracking tunes they finished off with a cover of The Darkness 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love'.Cue mosh city.
Have to say Whelans has been my choice of New Years Eve entertainment for many years now and it never disappoints. Always good bands ( Damien Dempsey last year, The Walls and Sack previous years ), great atmosphere plus the late club afterwards. All for only ...

My favorite band would have to be Puddle of Mudd, I just love their style and the lyrics they are amazing... Now my favorite Cd from the band would have to be LIFE ON DISPLAY it's the newest album it came out in november so it's at stores now to pick up and check out, it rocks... Now the bands web...

There are two big issues causing a lot of concern when it comes to gigs & gigging in this country - The behaviour of bouncers & Pay2play.

my fav 10 - The Darkness, The Jimmy Cake (went to quite a few and they were all fab), David Kitt (march 17), Idlewild, Love (the village), Public Enemy, Flaming Lips (Move fest), British Sea Power, Melt Banana finally Radiohead (may)
and for 2004 can't wait to see The Rednecks (it's been too long!), Manics playing new songs in proper venues and Belle & Sebastian :)

Gary Jules and Michael Andrews beating The Darkness, Pop Idols & The Osbournes to No.1! Choke on it all o'ye!
Yes i know its a cover, who cares - its great. Fits in perfectly with the ending of Donnie Darko... scanned the credits to find out if it was Michael Stipe or not (anyone else think that)...
the thing is with these songs, you kinda feel like 'no, its my song - i found it! you cant commercialise it!' silly i know, but there you are.

Was anyone at the Schneider TM gig in the Red Room in Cork on Friday Pretty amazing stuff!
Initially the gig looked like it was going to be a bit of a disaster, It started two hours late. After the first song it looked like he was going to go off at deep end, he played a rather long and extreme sounding version of one the tracks from his first album 'Moist', which had the kind of noise that would probably even make a Sonic Youth fan wince. Just wondering, am I the only one out there that cannot find a decent music magazine
Foggy notions seems pretty good, but doesn't seem to be published regularly. I used to read Muzik but thats now defunct. Muzik may have been limited to dance music and I certainly did not agree with their reviews all the time, but it was irreverent, highly entertaining and some of the cover CDs were great, especially the DFA compilation. As promised, here are the latest details for the second annual thumped.com Christmas Party.
As you know by now, this all takes place in conjunction with The Ballroom of Romance at 8pm TONIGHT (Friday 19th) in The Lower Deck in Portobello. Admission is 8 euro, and includes a free music video CD, Mixtape Kris Kringle & a ticket for the Bumper Christmas Raffle.
The Tycho Brahe will be taking the stage at 8.30pm*, followed by The Dudley Corporation & then finally the one and only xKNIFEDx.

what a gig..f**kin brilliant.
Ben kweller, as expected, was excellant.
A great warm up act. In the states, the kings opened for ben kweller.
But when the kings finally came on, they threw out a great set, which i have to be honest, i enjoyed more then radiohead in the olympia. Blashphemy, maybe.
The mistake i made was heading to the village afterwards...sore heads all round
