Keyboard Dilemma 1814 3
Started by flagman
I'm wanting to buy a nice synth, and I've narrowed down to a Korg X5D or maybe a Yamaha SO3.
Does anyone own or know anything about either of these Pro's and cons of each etc.

The Future of Irish Rock 1427 10
Started by John Doe
The Frames Pah. Bell X1 I don't think so lads.
No, ladies and gentlemen, for I have seen the future of Irish rock and it's name is.......
TEN SPEED RACER
Cracking tunes and live performances that just get better every time I see them. Think melodic guitar rock a la Weezer, The La's, The Byrds, even, dare I say it...The Pixies. I haven't been as excited about a new Irish band for a long time.
Check out some snippets of their material at www.tenspeedracer.com or better still, rush...

Crap bands/artists who have made good songs 4094 15
Started by Q2
Howdy!
Don't you find it incredibly annoying when bands/artists you hate come out with really good songs and as much as you dislike them, you can't stop listening to one/some of their songs
I have 3 examples of this:
Stereophonics - Hurry Up & Wait
I wish that dippy trio would disappear forever, but that's a great song
Travis - Turn
Boring, boring Travis. Still I love that one, Fran Healy sings it majestically in my view
Oasis - Heroes
A b-side and a cover of the David Bow...

Damien Dempsey - yay or nay? 7169 20
Started by The_Thin_Man
His profile is surely rising now, after Arts Lives devoted an hour to him last night, replete with MacGowan, O'Connor, Moore etc waxing lyrical.
The highlight of the show: Sinead claiming that Dempsey is more original voice than Luke Kelly
Or Eoghan Harris (no less) comparing the bard of Donaghmede to Woody Guthrie
The jury's out...in my opinion...

Pixies 6057 36
Started by caps lock
So seriously what's the deal with Pixies lining up alongside The Chili Peppers I've suffered the Peppers once already in order to catch Queens of The Stone Age and The Foo's (Slane) but I'll be damned if I have to do it again to see the Pixies play..
What led to such an inappropriate lineup

arrested development 1719 1
Started by eyeballkid
Eric mentioned Arrested Development in 'the village' thread but i didn't want to interrupt that conversation. i went to see them in london and i thought they were great as well. to be honest i wasn't sure what to expect, i didn't know if they had any new material, but they did and it sounded pretty good to me. the group is really pared down from the old days but they had the best bassist i've ever seen. the forthcoming album should be interesting. i wonder if they'll manage to hit the chart...

'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time' by Mark Haddon
Currently reading it and would highly recommend it.
It's written from the perspective of an Autistic child investigating the killing of his neighbours dog.
The author captures the imagination of what it like to be autistic extremely well. It meanders a lot because of it.

The Village 1392 7
Started by Eric
Went to a see Arrested Dev. in The Village last Sunday. The old timers havn't lost it, a great gig....however it was my first time seeing a live performance of that size (sold out) in the village. What a crap venue - unless you are up the front your vision is completly impared by either the ceiling/balcony above or two poles that are position smack bang in the middle of the stage. Also, the toilets are positioned behind the stage, so you have a constant stream of people running by the side of t...

Kula Shaker!
Following a lengthy discussion over the weekend on the inspired topic of cd's that embarass you, I was forced to admit that I still own a copy of the Kula Shaker album from many moons ago. Their particular brand of New Age Shangri La-ism sank without a trace and it got me to thinking about where they are now. Am I right in thinking their frontmans name was Crispin Mills Sure, what chance did they ever have
Any other suggestions for bands who fell foul of the nbt (next big t...

iPod 1478 8
Started by Vent My Spleen
Saw a sign in the O2 shop over the weekend, 20 G iPod for 460 euro. I am sorely tempted to purchase. I'd probably use it 200 hundred days of the year, so a euro a day seems like a fair write off over two years (right).
So, question is, does anyone have one Are they worth it Do they work well with a PC Is the battery life really an issue Where to buy oneShould I keep my plastic in my sky rocket and wait for them to come down in price
Is it wrong to be tempted by having 10,000 trac...
