Carl Harms and the Walls part company 1891 1
Started by space cheeks
Carl Harms and The Walls have parted company. The decision was an amicable one and doesn't preclude them from working together in the future. Carl is finishing off his own album and is also involved in a couple of other side projects. The next year is going to be a very busy one for The Walls with time spent abroad and Carl can't afford that amount of time away from his own work. As Shakespeare said 'There is a tide in the affairs of men which, taken at the flood leads on to fortune'. Ride that ...

Looking for recommendations. 5390 25

Hey, I'm new here, thought I'd post an intro and ask for any pointers on the Irish music scene. I only recently discovered Damien Rice, the Frames, and I've been trying to get my hands on some Mic Christopher. It sounds like the Irish scene is full of talent, just wondering what else I may be missing out on!
A little on my background--I'm in Seattle, WA, USA. I grew up as a teenager in the Seattle grunge scene, got to see all the greats play at little all ages shows before grunge exploded. I ...

Cars in rock music, where did they go? 5487 24
Started by Binokular
Bought myself a copy of MOJO magazine the other day, mainly for the rather good cover CD than the magazine itself, anyway I discovered an interesting fact that prompted me to start a thread combining two of the things I love, cars and music.
Anyway, apparently the song 'Rocket 88' which is credited to Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats is supposedly first proper Rock and Roll record. Whether its the first or not is debateable but the subject of the song is interesting. Its about a car, an Old...

Meeting random famous people.... 2727 15

On Friday, my girl and I went to see a Norwegian singer-songwriter going by the rather unusual moniker of Magnet. The venue An obscure little place called Bush Hall in West London.
The gig was ok... bass too heavy and rather loud, but still enjoyable enough. But... they didn't play one of the highlights of last year's album, a Dylan tune called Lay Lady Lay, a gorgeous duet with Gemma Hayes.
So I left halfway through the encore (my girl already having left at this point - enjoy it she d...

Is Chart Track fair? 1238 9

Here's the facts:
This week Morello sold (as the relevant shops confirmed) over 200 CD's between Tower and Road alone, 124 in Carlow, 72 in Waterford, 40 in Mullingar, 40 in Dundalk, 150 ( ish ) in Monaghan and 46 in Killarney plus whatever went out the door on Thursday.
Niall did a check with all the shops on Wednesday, had a count of 683, and asked the dude from Chart Track what would that have gotten us this week: he replied No. 6
All the shops were eventually sold out:

STAND by you Band.... 1414 1
Started by pizzaman
The STAND gig in the Village on Saturday was brilliant! I was totally blown away with the new songs; looking foward to the new album. It was hilarious to hear so many Americans yappin' around the place; it was like being in the Bitter End in NY. Glad to see the lads back home; New York is just tooooo far to go for a gig. Anyone else at the gig Must be as the Village was jammers.
