Started by Rev Jules
Simple request.
Did anybody go to see Jackson Browne in the Olympia last friday.
If so, what was he like
I caught him on 'Later with' a few weeks ago and thought he gave a magic performance.

2004.... a small review 8872 71
Started by kerb
As someone who works in A&R I have spent this year attending many gigs. Some good, some not so good, some incredible. I use this site alot. I think the opinions and discussions which most of you post are brilliant and i think the site itself warrants such issues we talk about. Firstly, to Cluas.com. Thank you for providing the Irish punter with a media to express their views and promote their gigs. I wonder, in the days of Junkster, Engine Alley, Power of Dreams, Peach, The Pale & Something Happ...

Is the new U2 album a bang or a bust 1321 4
Started by Rev Jules
Bono recently said that the price of the wonderful life that he and the rest of U2 have is that they don't make crap albums.
My question is...is the new album a downpayment on their future happiness or will they have to handle their beautiful life back

BUSH TALKS TURKEY ON THANKSGIVING 1091 1
Started by Rev Jules
Ok guys, this really has nothing to do with music but I thought I would post it anyway. Every year The President of the USA pardons a couple of turkeys. Its a fine White House Tradition that formed the basis of one of the funnier episodes of the West Wing. This year it was the turn of a pair of fowls by the name of Biscuits and Gravy who now get to live out the rest of their days on a farm in Virginia.
The following is an edited version of George W Bush's pardon speech.
THE PRESIDENT: Than...

I heard his latest effort of a song on the radio this morning and found myself in fitz of laughter. The lyrics are dreadful, I nabbed this from his fab website....
Verse 1
I was born in the heart of Dublin
Back when being gay wasn't cool
Made get on our knees every Sunday with the other fools
We were warped by the Christian Brothers
In the cell blocks at our schools
Get a handprint on your skin
Before you break their rules
Pre Chorus 1
Go hit me now
That I'm twice your size

New Live Aid Track 1270 14
Started by Gar
Just heard the new Live Aid song, not very impressive. The original wasn't even a great song to begin with. But I know it's all for a good cause. I just wondered with so many bad (in my opinion anyway) artists like Busted, on this new version...where should Geldof have drawn the line Yes he needs whoever is popular in the charts for the song to sell. But isn't there better artists out there that could've made it sell just as well. I thought that old 'Perfect Day' song with Lou Reed and everyone...

What top 5 bands do you miss the most: 5916 38
Started by Optimus
You know, bands you wish were still on the scene but arent due to circumstances like tragedy or artistic differences...
Mine are:
1: Guns N' Roses
2: Jeff Buckley
3: Mexican Pets
4: Led Zeppelin
5: Alice In Chains/Dinosaur Junior
I'm assuming some little puke will put nirvana in their list somewhere just to annoy me...
There you have it.

CLUAS gigs of the fortnight 1515 10

Right. The 3rd instalment of the CLUAS gigs of the fortnight is now live on the site. It covers gigs over the two week period beginning next Monday (Nov 8th). Check it out at http://www.CLUAS.com/gigs_of_fortnight/
Now that we have three of these under the belt I want to solicit some feedback on the format from regulars around these parts. Do you think it's an appropriate format Do you think the spread of gigs (geographically, across genres, established acts vs new acts, etc) is sound Anyth...

Phantom V Zed Fm 7399 22
Started by kierry
i had an interesting discussion with someone involved with Zed Fm, we were discussing the upcoming decision regarding the radio license.
anyway, it seems that ClearChannel is involved with the Phantom Fm bid. if this is true, and i'm not saying it is, then it is bad news for radio in ireland.
but will there be any real difference in the two stations when they get up and running phantom certaintly won't be the same when it returns, it'll have to respond and attract advertisers just like s...

Saviours Of Our Musical Tastes 1442 15
Started by Gar
With respect to John Peel, I wondered just how many journalists do enough for musicians nowadays. So basically the theme of this topic is to name the dj's, journalists, writers etc who still work effortessly to inform the mass population of the wonderous bands/artists coming through the ranks.
I'm not a fan of the radio much so I wouldn't recommend any dj's. Although, I did discover a few artists thanks to John Walshe. But I think that written journalists don't do enough and the one's who do ...
