ringtones 1217 4
Started by maccor
anyone sussed out the handiest way to make your own original ringtones I've found an OSX app that'll take a midi file and prepare it for the standard phone - so i have to check if that works - but Im just wondering if any bands have considered making their own original ringtones available from their websites.

Song Game For A Boring Afternoon 9715 101
Started by Gar
Ok, it's Thursday. Yep the day before payday (for me anyway) and where we all wait for Friday to roll on through. So I'm at home doing loadsa college work and I'm a bit bored. So I thought I would start this off (apologies to Elle, kinda stole this idea, well borrowed it from your post over on ceol site) and see if anyone bothers to reply.
Basically, someone picks a song title and the next person has to use the first letter of the last word to mention a song which starts with it. For example,...

The Beta Band 1491 16
Started by klootfan
The Beta Band are one of those bands who ive ear marked to go see live for a long time. Ive always heard good reviews of them. Id say ive only ever heard one or two of their songs but ive still had an urge to catch them live...maybe its the 'High Fidelity' connection. Duno
Anyway, since tonight is the Irish gig of their farewell tour, ive decided to finally catch them live. But if they are really good, it will probably annoy the hell out of me since its their last ever gigs.
Anyone else he...

New U2 Album Review 1364 7
Started by Gar
I always find it a little sketchy when editors write in their publications, unless it's the Letters To The Editor section. Maybe this is because Niall Stokes (Hotpress) writes poor articles and praises bands that shouldn't be getting that much praise (Saucy Monky). Although, I wasn't surprised that Eoghan was the first one past the posts with a review of the new U2 record.
First of all, I think it is very well written, just like the majority of reviews on Cluas. It draws up some really good co...

Anyone stay up for the documentary on BBC1 last night about the infamous Smile album
Quality stuff. I was worried, that in rehersal that he wouldnt have been able to pull off performing it live, that his voice wasn't there after all the yrs. I needn't have worried.

Foo Fighters For Oxegen 1220 14
Started by Gar
What does everyone think of this act headlining the Sunday night of the next festival I was a little surprised but at least it's not The Darkness. Rumour has it that Dave Grohl is meant to be an excellent front man.
Anyway, limited amount of tickets on sale this Friday. I'll be digging deep to get mine just in case they sell out quickly. Two day camping just like last year.

SETLIST FOR STOLEN IPOD 1184 2
Started by Rev Jules
It is totally wrong to take what is said in one strand and carry it over into another. However, if what is said in one strand inspires another that is, I think, another question.
Eoghan opined earlier that the big drawback with having an IPod is that you are going to get mugged for it. So, with that in mind, what should the setlist be
Starters for ten
1) Stand and Deliver - Adam and the Ants
2) I fought the Law - The Clash
3) Robbery, Assault & Battery - Genesis
4) Who Stole The So...

MP3 Players 1812 6
Started by mutch
OK let me start by setting out my position, I'm not into computers. I work (use the term loosly) with them so in my spare time I want very little to do with them. However, a gift of an MP3 player seems to be on the cards for relative.
I am also too cynical to believe anything that comes out of shop assistant's mouth other than the words 'While I work I have no soul or pity and will sell shoddy products to customers who are ignorant of the product range available because I have to shift stock a...

You're a star bands show 1373 11
Started by Binokular
OK, I know its cheesy, so theres no need to point it out, but I was just wondering if anyone else managed to to watch 'You're a star' on RTE last night, where in a break from the usual karaoke queens and people with untuned acoustic guitars they had a show dedicated exclusively to bands.
What did you all think and how do you think it reflects on the current Irish music scene Any bands stand out for you (other than the very spinal tap celtic rock band doing Abbas 'dancing queen'!)

Brian McFeckin' (Revisted) 3970 22
Started by Rev Jules
He is on page 30 of this weeks Guardian Friday Review, wearing a Zutons T-Shirt, gripping a copy of 'Astral Weeks' and spouting off about how he went to see a Nirvana gig in the Point a few years before he joined Westlife and started to dress and act like Kurt Cobain. Then Kurt died, he got into Backstreet Boys and the rest, as they say, is history. Oh and he compares his situation to that of The Libertines' Pete Doherty. He then says that the beauty of The Libertine's latest album is that it so...

Kings Of Leon 1489 16

I wanted to just say fair play to Anna Murray for the review of the new KOL album. I got it myself and her review describes the album pretty much how I see it. Totally agree about what she said about 'Youth And Young Manhood'. It was also nice to read this coming off the back of Dromed's insightful live review of KOL. Was getting a bit worried, thanks to his review, that the lads were slipping in form. So I stalled on getting the cd but glad I did in the end.
By the way, does anyone know if t...

heard of The Heard? 1227 7
Started by Binokular
I'm trying to find out a bit more about a band I heard here in Cork called The Heard about a month or two ago who I thought were pretty good. It was during a free music festival weekend (murphys experience or something like that, can't remember the name of it, sorry) and they were supporting Stanley Super 800.
I think they may be a local Cork band, I'm not sure, but probably not as I haven't seen them play anywhere since. Anyway, I thought they were pretty good, being ever so slightly remini...
