Discovery Of 2004 1094 6
Started by Gar
With so many good albums released over the past year, all major music publications have their Best Of lists running at the moment. This is a chance for everyone to agree/disagree with the choices, argue an albums place in the top ten, decide whether or not the writers who voted on the list have taste or simply discover a few albums that you might have missed during the year. Anyway, check out the results of the Cluas Writer's Poll now up on the site and feel free to discuss anything about the li...

best album of 2004 4118 25
Started by aidan
might as well start the argument proper: name ONE album which for you is the best album of 2004. not a list of a dozen or so - you have to choose: if put to the pin of your collar what's your ONE favourite album of 2004
for me, it's the scissor sisters album - fabulous singles, music to enjoy and have fun with/to.

Ah the joys of time travel 1391 17
Started by Archie
I feel like starting a new topic today. Hmm...
If Dr. X Tremelybraney (your good friend from lab 101884.4and a half) invented a special musical timetravelling type device which could only be used once, and (being such a good friend) gave you the use of it, which concert of any time in the past would you go to You don't have to have been there the first time, by the way.
part 2: Given that the journey takes 20.6 mins, what would you listen to on the way
Deciding what to listen to on th...

LORD OF THE RINGS - THE MUSICAL 1192 4
Started by Rev Jules
I was watching Bo Selecta the other night when I began to notice the amazing facial similarities between Avid Merrion and Glen Hansard,
then adverts for Lord Of The Rings came on and I thought, if Lord Of The Rings was remade starring musicians popular in Ireland then who would the cast be
Here are my suggestions
Frodo - Paddy Casey
Gollum - Kieran Goss
Gandalf - Charlie Landsborough

New Reviews 1110 6

Just wanted to say fair play to Brendan Bradley and Mick Lynch for two very interesting album reviews. I have the first Black Keys album and was unsure about getting 'Rubber Factory' but now I am convinced.
And well done to Triona Hourigan for the interview with Rachel Loshak. Insightful and a pleasant read. I was actually planning on contacting Rachel for an interview but it seems I was slow off the mark.
Gordon Gannon's review of the Gomez gig is honest and some little quips mixed in. J...

Most useful music related electronic invention 1131 14
Started by klootfan
Im just thowing this out there as a question,
but what single electronic invention has helped the progression of music in the last say, 50 years.
Maybe progression isnt the right word, because I really want to include distribution to the masses in that question as well.
Would it be the fender electric Guitar This would surely have to be up there at the top in terms of the diversity of music styles that followed in its wake Would it not
