New Licensing Laws 2447 8
Started by Idiot Kid
So our nanny state has stepped in once again, this time to tell us when we can enjoy ourselves.
I wonder what it will mean for Ireland's gig culture etc and is it the reason a lot of venues have been starting gigs as early as 7.30 and finishing at 10ish recently

Biggest disappointment at Oxegen? 3323 13
Started by Idiot Kid
For me there were two.
Interpol. I gave them another chance but they have zero stage presence and you may as well be listening to a CD when they play live.
Battles. Considering the debate they caused here recently I had to check them out. Did they change my life No, not even close. Holy Fuck do essentially the same thing but a million times better. And what is the story with that drum set up

CD Wow delivery delays? 4293 13
Started by admin
I ordered Bon Iver's album from CD WOW on June 4, they shipped it on June 18 and it arrived today June 26. Anyone out there seeing similar lags of time for deliveries from CD WOW I hadn't ordered anything from them in a while but with their site redesign and 'new management' signs I decided to give them a whirl. I know they ship it from Hong Kong but 22 days Not impressed.

MBV live: Music as terror. 5272 15
Started by Quint
Saw My Bloody Valentine live last night and going again tonight. Loudest and best gig I've ever been to. Life-changing.
Below is the 'holocaust' section from 'You Made Me Realise'. At the end of this clip, it says the white noise went on for 15 minutes but last night it was more like 30 to 40 minutes. Never experienced anything like this at a gig before. Utterly mindblowing and Absolutely terrifying. DO NOT miss them at Electric Picnic.

MBV 2985 7
Started by Quint
Here it is. First song from My Bloody Valentine's warm up rehearsals for next week's gigs at the Roundhouse. Even after watching this, it's STILL hard to believe they are back. How do they still look the same after 16 years Looks like it's nice and loud too...handing out earplugs at the door apparently. Turn it up!
Roll on next Sunday at the Roundhouse...

Coldplay 'Violet Hill' - Worst comeback single ever? 3429 10
Started by Quint
Ok, they are so 'uncool' they make The Frames look like Crystal Castles and it is probably taboo to mention their name in polite hipster company but while not being a bona fide fan, I've always had a lot of time for Coldplay.(A lot of derision the band has attracted is due to the fact they all to went to a top university and come from comfortable, middle-class, English Home Counties backgrounds. If they came from Salford, however....well,you know the rest) Imagine my surprise then ,when checking...

Why do people talk during gigs? 8210 44
Started by Quint
At This Will Destroy You at Whelans last night. Fantastic gig but marred by idiots talking loudly throughout the set.
Why are they there Why do they ruin it for everyone else Namely, fans of the band who have taken time out to go see the band and enjoy the gig in the hope it's not ruined by f**king gibbering idiots behind them or in front of them. Why have they paid for a ticket if they have absolutely no interest in the band or their music whatsoever This seems to happen at every gig. If ...
