The main problem with The Hub is its layout, not the most ideal setup for gigs at all. Club NME should be interestin though, will defo be checkin it out

I think it's great. Cummins is a good writer too.
Along with Radiator, Club NME might just ressurect the Hub.
I've never been (but I think I'll head along tomorrow) but that Pandamonium club that's on every second Thursday looks quite cool.
Possible conflict of interest, I've got a gig there in a few weeks but that's not why I think it looks cool.

Oh it is the Hub, my mistake.
Pity, the place is a kip.

the hub is kind of perfect for a club like this...sound aint the best, but a small crowd can look big in the place and it has the sweaty rock club feel of crawdaddy without the urban outfitters decor...

On the sampler edition of NME, they have Humanzi on the cover with the typically excitable, attention grabbing headline: 'The Day Ireland's biggest band brought Dublin to a standstill' Biggest band??????? Come again? '...brought Dublin to a standstill'. When?? Have I missed something?
Anyway, NME is a piece of crap these days. It used to be magnificent in the Eighties and most of the Nineties.I have hundreds of issues in my attic. Nowadays, it reminds of Smash Hits. A sad shadow of its former self and very sad.Their website is excellent though. Can't see the Irish edition lasting that long as 1) We are a tiny country and don't have enough bands, etc to fill eight pages every week and 2)Most of those bands are crap so what's the point?

Hafta disagree here Im afraid. I would look at the website quite a few times a day but theres never anything but pop gossip really on there.
Quick look at todays "news headlines":
- Madonna adopts baby boy - statement due in next 48 hrs
- The automatic rubbish the Horrors
- Foo Fighters front man meets up with mine victim

Had a free read, as you do, in Tower yesterday.Awful tripe. A few tokenistic reviews of Irish bands, a short interview with The Blizzards which was mainly made up of the lead singer's abnormal erection after accidenatlly taking Viagra (WTF?), gig listings that you get for free elsewhere....cannot believe this is the same magazine I used to read religiously in the nineties.
In an uncharacteristically coherent article in the last Sindo, Declan Lynch did a hatchet job on the NME describing it as the new 'Smash Hits' which I described it as in an earlier posting here.
Get your own ideas, Lynch!
