*aplogies if this has been mentioned before*
i used to buy the Hotpress, enjoyed it, but not now with its new 'sexier ' image..what is with all the bulls**t sex articles?!?!?!?!? If i wanted that tripe i'd buy one of those gutter glossy lads-mags...plus i have a wee one running around the house that doesnt need to see it!
Catch yourselves on Hotpress.

eh, shouldnt that be top shelf ?
I empathise but I have far more of a problem with images of violence than I do with people writing about the female orgasm. Sorry, but I think its a sickness in a society that happily bans Playboy and then allows movies like Kill Bill to be on general release, I'm not saying I approve of Playboy or that I believe in banning movies but, as a fan of Lenny Bruce, I'm with him when he says he'd rather watch a film where a woman is in exctasy and saying "I love you, I'm coming" then one where she is being terrorised, tortured and murdered but hey, maybe I'm not cool, like, man

Playboy is a great magazine, apart from all the nudie women.
I like saying the word 'nudie'. It brings a smile...

aha! - I used 'nudie' in a review here a while ago (placebo, I think) and I got great feedback for using it. I'm hoping to slip 'saucy' in somewhere very soon
una, does richard oakley write for the tribune?
I think most posters on this board agree that hot press is a parody of its former self. a lot of the writing is really self-conscious ('the ticket' is so much more enjoyable as a read), and the editorial direction (y'know, really slating the bishops cause they, like, don't have sex or give out free condoms, man!!) is fairly outdated. a change of editor could make it a really great magazine. anyone know how it does sales-wise?

Latest figures showed Hotpress to have an increase of over 50% in readers over the past twelve months. I'm currently receiving the special offer thing from EP - 6 mags for €5, I wouldn't buy it normally and I don't think thats going to change unless they are printing subconciously hypnotic messages in these special offer mnagazines that will trick me into subscribing. I have to agree the whole attempt at the sex thing is a bit juvenile but maybe thats their target audience, I don't know.

They could do a spinoff called 'Hottie Press' or maybe 'Hacks Go Wild'

The sex column is the most embarassing thing I've ever read. The few I've seen has a box at the side with 'the sex o'clock news' written above it and a picture of a clock with the hands replaced by knobs. That's pretty juvenile and not funny. I bet everyone in the hotpress office draws pictures of d**ks on each other's stuff then runs away laughing like in secondary school.

And shouldn't a sex columnist be someone that you actually want to have sex with?
It's like talking dirty with a minger, just wrong.

still, 'sex' is in her name, Anne Sexton. I always find this ting amazing, like Arsene Wenger managing Arsenal, or that guy in charge of the Port Tunnel - Tim Brick.
People don't talk about appropriate names enough.

Alex Ferguson is a Man, & he's in charge of MANchester United ... & Stuart Pearce is also a Man.
(gulp) Dare I say, that Gordan Strachan is a Celt ... & then there is Pat Scully, who is a Sham.
The place is littered with them !!
