Know its not exactly the topic, but when 50 cent played the Reading and Leads festivals a few years ago there was uproar. He was bottled off the stage in Leeds after a few songs and didn't even last a song at Reading. Why he was on the line - up i don't know.

Were they The Shakes ? I just remember a very bad jumper on the guitarist. He had skanger written all over him, the kind who listen to The La's on end at partys.
when i saw the title of this thread that gig was the first to come to mind. i think they had one good song near the end of their set but the rest was bland as f***. cetainly not an apt opener for WP.

Good call... awful pairing...
How about New Order supporting RHCP in Landsdowne Rd a few years back. Hooky was clearly pissed off leaving the stage saying "tell your parents you saw us".

Ham Sandwich are a great band, but I can't help thinking their support tour with Whitesnake(!!) was a strange one.

Apparently back in the late 60's when Miles Davis was beginning to earn cool points with the Fillmore crowd, he was asked to support artists such as Neil Young and The Band. According to Levon Helm, after the crowd of mostly pot-smoking country-rock-liking kids were exposed to Bitches Brew, they were stunned past the point of salvaging and the rest of the gig was a washout.

Weird I was at that gig, but don't remember TT at all. I must have been at the bar, I guess...

I think the Dirty Three supported the Frames once, and the Frames audience was a bit bemused, I seem to remember.

Jaysus, I'd forgot they'd played with them. I think that was back when Podge was wearing baby grows onstage.

Bob Dylan always tends to have support acts that surprise people. On his current tour in the U.S., he will be supported by The Raconteurs, Kings Of Leon and Foo Fighters. A wierd support act coming up is Beirut at the Calexico gig in the Olympia.

Ah yes I remember that, in Galway. Very strange line-up that one. Somebody whose name I can't remember. Gorky's Zygotic Monky, Mundy (though it was meant to be Cornershop!), The Dirty Three and the Frames, who also brought on the blonde girly from the Commitments.
