Hey folks - I know this is an old thread but I thought I might resurrect it seeing as it's almost at the end of the footie season and iwith an eye to ensuring we have another Cluas league for '07/'08
I notice the EP forum has an ongoing FF thread so no reason why we can't have one as well (the slow slow sloooooowwwwness of accessing this forum didn't do it any favours but i think it's improved somewhat in recent weeks)
Ok so this season is almost up but next season is only a coupla months away! (said like a true FF junkie)
Anyone got any thoughts, comments, etc on the Cluas league?

Never noticed this thread before, and didnt realise there was a Cluas league at all. I added my team into the league and went straight in at Number 7! Respectable enough, but I will aim for the top next season.

nice one diego, 7th's good but you'll have your work cut out toppling the all conquering Cavan Hoors next season (if only the same could be said of our gaelic football team!)
it's a funny ole game, finished bottom of my league at work last season but this year it's all gone swimmingly

the FF season is gonna get underway again soon, so just thought i'd see if we have many people interested in a Cluas FF league for season '07/'08 - if so, i'll go ahead and set up a league and let you good people know the code, cheers

some of the other music forum FF leagues have pizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd but probably not an option for this league (unless Eoghan wants to contribute a sum for the winner?)

I'm in! Think I came 5th or 6th last year. I was in a few leagues so can't quite remember.

will probably wait a week or so before getting my team together and hone it in the days coming up to kickoff

d'arse ain't done much dealing but they have RVP back and looking sharp
sven looks like he means business and t'will be interesting to see how big sam fares in tyneside
would be worried about sunderland's chances of staying up, they need at least one more quality defender aside from mcshane or they're gonna leak goals

sunderland getting gordon might just be the difference between them staying up or going down
i fancy derby and probably fulham for the drop, 3rdlast spot will be a real dogfight, could be anyone of birmingham, sunderland, boro, wigan or even bolton or reading
reackon the title is manu's to lose and i wouldn't be surprised if pool sneaked in ahead of chelsea to grab 2nd spot considering how much ground chelsea could lose early on with their injury problems

what say we spice this up a bit and name our current starting 11 (it's possible you could make several changes between now and saturday morning so you're not giving too much away)

As winner of the Cluas league last year, I feel it's my moral duty to show my hand (or most of it) before battle commmences this Saturday

I reckon at the start of last season a lot of smaller clubs players shot up the league before the usual suspects started clocking up the points - so it's important to make an educated guess about who is gonna fire from the off. Bet we all wish we had predicted Portsmouths flying start last year.

I'm in. I reckon a lot of people are banking on Sunderland this season - but maybe Derby will make fools of us all? Anyway (subject to late panicking/changing):

Was tempted to stick in Kuyt or Torres as a 30-goal man; then copped myself on. But, like every year, I fear I'm placing too much trust in Irish players...

If chelsea play a 4-3-3 and avoid the injury debacle they experienced last year the league is theirs. Not a pleasant thought but then again neither is Man U reasserting their domination of the premier league. I think Sunderland will do pretty well in that they'll beat the drop. I can't really see them doing a reading and qualifying for Europe with some of the signings they've made but hope springs eternal
