Has anyone else noticed that the back of the Village stinks too? First time I noticed it, I thought I was beside someone with a very passing interest in personal hygine. Moving around, I realised the place is particularly funky (in a bad way).
Shut the f**king place down!!! The most ineptly designed venue on the planet. As noted earlier, main entrance to the right of stage and a huge walkway to the jacks on the left??? The f**k's that all about??? Sound is so crap too.
Of course, it's the probably the legacy of the old Mean Fiddler causing all this.. ALhtough, at least that infernal door wasn't there in those days!! Hasn't there been a tentative plan for the last 20 years or so (according to Joe anyway) to increase Whelan's capacity by turning the stage around 45 degrees and knocking into some warehouses out back?? Maybe, they should knock into the Village while their at it too...

small: The Cobblestone The Village (upstairs only) The Sugar Club bigger: Temple Bar Music Centre (dance acts ONLY, because then the place is a giant dancefloor which is cool. It's impossible to see the stage unless you're in front or upstairs otherwise) bigger: Vicar Street The Olympia

the Whelans band room is great. nobody can talk either during the acts because it's so small. 40 people and it's full.

The Lower Deck isn't bad.
