seconded. beautiful. I have to say i do love picaresque its amazing, but to me its very dificult to listen to at the moment, as it reminds me of someone. Has anyone heard the 2 colin meloy eps ?(sings morrisey and sings judy collins)they are excellent,I downloaded them from the net, i think they were tour only cdrs or something like that, it would be great if they got a full proper release, i would love to see them play here. also been listening to big star first 3 albums all amazing.

Yeah I have that 'Sings Shirley Collins' EP. It's quite good but Meloy works better within a band, whether it be with The Decemberists or a cameo with the Minus 5. His first band Tarkio had two albums re-released recently too.

After the self indulgent almost unlistenable set proffered by 4tet last year at TBMC, I kinda went off him Is this a return to form of sorts? cos I know the hoor is capable of genius when he makes an effort!

Peejay - That Jay Bennett album is excellent. He released another album called 'The Beloved Enemy' in the same year (might have been on the same day too) but I reckon 'Bigger Than Blue' is better. Your best bet of finding it is on Amazon.

Ok, these are three that I can't stop listening, though I have tried.. Trompe Le Monde - The Pixies ( I'm not the worlds biggest Pixie fan, yet this is almost always the first album I turn to if I feel like listening to one from start to finish. Space pop at it's very best (although compared to what, I do not know!!) OK Cowboy - Vitalic. Another one that really rewards you if you head straight for track one and don't leave until 13. Alternatively, you can head straight for track 13 and stay tuned until track 1, it's really up to you. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen. The world seems to stop when I listen to this record. Once I had my dinner during it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The joy when the title track bursts in is almost too much to describe...You really feel like you've earned it.

alameda: it's a strange record, but really beautiful. It's all done live, so it can wander off a little bit. it stretches freeform completely, and very lo-fi and out there jazzy. But good. I love it.

Vitalic is pretty good in an old-school dance kinda way, but I wouldn't class it among the better dance music albums I've heard in the ast couple of years. He uses pretty much the oldest tension/release DJ tricks in the book, nothing wrong with that, especially since he does it really well. It's a fun album and I like it, but a bit formulaic and not a landmark album for dance music.
