I thought the ex-editor went to village magazine? Una: I know why Tot Dublin gives great reviews not to p!ss off advertisers but some of it is a bit much. As for Pete, I suppose NME is just jumping off the bandwagon a bit too late

the Slate was brilliant - 'childish', yes, hilarious, yes. what do you expect an ex-editor to do? He has to go get a job too.

its amazing how quickly principles and the like go by the wayside when the chance of a big paying gig at newstalk comes along. then again, the slate was always very good at playing the anti-everyone and anti-everything card - and pretty mercenary when it came to flogging ads (including agreeing not to slag off anyone who took out ads with them). they really succeeded in hoodwinking everyone with that.

I saw an interview on MTV news yesterday(I know) anyway,. the rest of his band were being interviewd then he comes into the room off his head with a syringe and squirts blood at the camera. The screen literally goes completely red. One of the band memebers walks off in disgust. if i was behind the camera pete doherty would not be able to play guitar today, oh wait a sec, it looks like somebody already beat me to that :-). f**king Scumbag

I think you might be taking things a little too seriously here. There has to be some sort of balance and common sense would dictate that if you piss everyone off then no-one is going to read your rag. Advertising is the mainstay of most publications and, dirty 'n all as it is it has to be done to pay the bills and keep things rolling along. The Slate was great and it's ad policy sure was more upfront and reasonable than Hot Press, say. As for the gig with Newstalk i think "big-paying gig" might be overstating it some-what. Odds are that guy isn't making a six figure sum. Even though i haven't heard the show he's involved with it's nice to think that he may be bring a slightly subversive world-view and attitude to the table.
