Its in a Hotel. Like an old style ballroom. Its a bit run down these days. You better pray for a good sound guy cos it can be hairy sometimes. I saw Snow patrol here before they turned into coldplay and that was cool. Also saw the undertones here that was fantastic sound and a great show. The local music promoter gugai used to do a residence here and put on bands till he got his hands in on the roisin dubh. But don't ever go here on a weekend you have been warned!!!

hmmm, if it's small then it should be good, might head down. I don't see how Roisin Dubh can call itself a venue when it's just the back of a f**kin pub.

what exactly constitutes a 'venue' in your eyes? i've seen lots of fantastic gigs in roisins and would vouch for it as one of the best places in the country to seen a gig. The sound is good, it's intimate, there's usually a good atmosphere. What more exactly do you want from a "venue"?

it's just that there is no stage to speak of, it's hard to get a good view of a band because of pillars, the fact that the front is narrow, and people end up getting shoved around the corner if it's jammed, the bar is in an awkward spot, people have to shove through the corwd halfway to get to the smoking area and if they want to fit more people in, they should get rid of the tables and s**t at the back where the raised part is. So, there have been no efforts to make it a pleasurable place to listen or see music in. It';s just the back of a pub.

So, there have been no efforts to make it a pleasurable place to listen or see music in. It';s just the back of a pub. They are in the middle of renovating the whole pub at the moment. Upstairs will be an acoustic venue and downstairs they will be be taking out the toilets and putting them upstairs to create more room in the venue(back of a pub;whichever you feel like callin it)They will be moving the bar and stage to make it more accomadating for the crowd so they are making an effort to make it a pleasurable place. When they took it over last year no one was coming to play there. It was really poorly run and had gotten a bad name. Now there are great gigs.

Quirks of the gaff. If you knew the place better you'd manage to circumvent these minor irritants pretty easily. Anyways you'll be glad to read the above post. Gugai's gutting the place and turning it into the Village.

THe Roisin is a great little spot - can't imagine it becoming anything like the Village in fairness.

was only messing about transforming it into the Village. It's in good hands with Senor Gugai. This gig is the same night as the Champions League Final. Is there a tv in the Warwick?
