Fantastic song, apparantley Chris wrote it for Gwynnie after her dad died.
In a club one night they played Fleetwood Mac's 'Big Love' (club version) blew my mind

Fix you was written in an attempt to emulate "grace under pressure" by Elbow (what a song !). He's said it many times himself, even telling guy garvey when he interviewed him.

Jesus lads read the first post - it's not songs that blow you away the first time you hear them its songs you've heard loads of times and then one day blow you away.
...in that case
massive attack - unfinished sympathy
...amazing but this raver kid never digged it when it came out originally

That new Massive Attack tune is excellent.

After much thought I've decided the two songs that I've listened to loads until they've blown me away (complying with this thread's regulations) are the first track on Third Eye Foundation: "Little Lost Soul' and 'Me V Madonna V Elvis' by Brand New.
I compel you all to listen to both.

Guys & Gals, have any of you been somewhere ordinary and heard a song you never paid much attention to before, prehaps by an artist you don't really care that much about and suddenly, the song blows your mind ?
Eh, its just happened to me today, in a shoe shop, when I heard 'Fix You' by, eh, Coldplay
it's a slippery slope! soon you'll be watching 'closer' and succumbing to the ricey charms of the blowers' daughter!
funny sometimes how your things can really get through to you when your guard is down. had the weird experience once of waking up with the lines
"And when we meet again, Introduced as friends, Please don't let on that you knew me when, I was hungry And it was your world"
running through my head - weird because i hadn't really listened to dylan much back then, had to do an internet search to find out what it was. uber-random. the subconscious mind is a truly strange and wonderful thing...
