Yeah I like the Flaming Lips too, even though if they did a cover of Baa Baa Black Sheep, Uncut would consider it a classic.

strange line-up and not good for Dylan, i reckon he'll be totally upstaged by the Flaming Lips.

I dont think Dylan has ever been upstaged by anybody in his whole career.

Damn straight. Wouldn't say he's having too many sleepless nights about sharing the bill with the Flaming Lips.

have you seen Dylan live? You are going to go from upbeat, fun, inclusive pop music of the Lips to the gnarled and twisted reinterpretations of Dylan classics played by an old man on keyboards. I can guarantee the majority of that audience leaving the gig will have been more impressed by the Flaming Lips than Dylan.

jesus h christ.....i like both ok? both.... dylan is actually decent live....and for folk who admire him and have not seen him in concert it'll be a good opportunity to do so.... are you in your forties? you go see him in slane twenty years ago? when he still played guitar? i'm only twenty five so the "old man on keyboards" is all i got to see...a number of times...and he was great at the point... thinking about it the two acts certainly dont run in the same thread but i wouldnt be as critical of bob dylan....what do you want him to do? stop getting old?

Nah, I don't think so. I can't see Dylan fans leaving the gig thinking, 'Jeez, I can't believe I liked this guy all these years. But now my eyes have been opened because I have seen the Flaming Lips.' The spectators will be fans of both, or either acts. And likewise, the spectators will enjoy both, or either acts. It's always the same when you get two great acts side by side.

no, tickets go onsale at 09:00 on thursday morning. Cork ones sold out very fast, I don't think this will sell out as quickly, big venue as well. We are reaching serious saturation point with gigs and festivals this summer i feel.

From reading another forum this is unsurprisingly exactly what happened according to a lot of people who went.

No, not really. First time seeing him. But i was with some hardcore dylan heads who had seen him seven or eight times before and they said it was probably the best gig they saw him do. Flaming Lips were great too. Big thumbs up for the whole day.

It was one of the better shows that Dylan has done in Ireland in recent years but he was still pretty sh*t. There'a no passion left in his voice. He can barely pronounce his words in an audible fashion let alone inject any emotion into them, plus his backing band sounded like the Mavericks. The Flaming Lips however were amazing (again). It's the same show every time I see them but what a show!

The Flaming Lips are a great live band, they should never have been put supporting Dylan, total clash of musical styles. I saw Dylan last night in Cork, no support great gig, thought his voice was very good, much better than the last time I saw him. The Marquee is a great setup, sound, lighting, the whole shebang, worth a venture south.

Ya Flaming Lips were amazing again! Trying to put into words what a good vibe they inspire, but ya just have to see them. Dylan was a mixed bag of course, I thought he destroyed maggies farm and a couple of others were unrecognisable (But I suppose ya have to expect that from Dylan). But then he finished strongly with a pretty close to original like a rolling stone and a hendrix esqe all along the watch tower. So the earlier disppointment was quickly forgotten!
