does anyone else feel that the frames are very heavily influenced by dEUS? from 'dance the devil' on, they definitely sound as if they spent a lot of time listening to 'worst case scenario'(no bad thing, as it's a deadly record)
...i saw dEUS in the mean fiddler back around 1997(crazy gig, opened with suds and soda, the floor was moving up and down with the jumping!)
and the frames supported them that night, i didn't really know the frames at the time but glen did say they're the best f**king band in the world, can defo hear the influence on stuff like god bless mum and some of their other quiet-loud stuff.

The Frames openly admit to the influence (I think Pavement tune is the most obvious), & championed dEUS from years, a cover of Hotel Lounge is a standard in their set.
Craig Ward has worked on a number of their albums.
I even saw him play a full gig with the frames in Belfast a few yrs ago.

To come back from holidays and find out they're playing makes being back in Ireland much less depressing!

Twas indeed. Was gonna mail ya to ask about yr POD night but then I read your old post. Might make it this Wednesday if it's on. Came back with a slew of new CDs/bands etc that Ive been turned on to.
My first night in NY went to Eels in a rare spontaneous act and days later saw a very shouty gig in Sin E, a band called Su Su. Got a Gang Gang Dance CD. Heard of em? Very odd. Not one for Beat Connection!
