The Roses were definitely part of that E'd up generation though. You don't need to be on E to get them, but it was a big part of the culture of the time. Glad to see that not everyone rates them so highly. I like a couple of their tunes, they were certainly lightyears ahead of Oasis, but legends this does not them make. (Sorry descending in I am into Yoda-Speak) The whole music/drugs relationship thing is weird I suppose, I love acid house without having ever popped pills of any description (other than those prescribed by a GP, honest!). I can't decide which is more worrying, being high enough to get this stuff or getting it without needing any kind of mind bending substance, what that says for my default state of mind I dunno. Then again a lot of the really good 60s supposedly-psychedelic records were written on nothing stronger than "a cup of tea" which is apparently what Ray Davies claims when asked about "Waterloo Sunset". I'm sounding less coherent here than that small green muppet aren't I? Do or do not. There is no try.

I didnt hear it said or do you hear you own thoughts i would have thought you felt your thoughts. anyway The smiths, The stone roses, oasis and then the Stereophonics . Thats some f**king jump. I wasnt around at the time for the smiths or the stone roses but there was more dept to these bands. if yourman kelly or kenny paid more attention to the music lately than how his hair looked they might mean more to cynical f**kers like me and not just be a few moves down the line after people Id want to punch then the singer from keane

Well Stones Roses to me, are legends, they produced some of the best guitar music of the 90's - on nothing but wine and spliff and a great lot of talent. John Squires guitars were only perfection on the debut. Reni's drums were something else that wasn't happening at the time, as were Squires guitars. Mani's bass player - excellent. IBrowns voice while not the best voice in the world, was something again that had not really been heard before and suited the backing music perfectly. As for the other bands mentioned above they all have their merits, but other than The Verve none of them have made a classic album - and no Defintley Maybe is not a classic album, there's nothing that stands out on it really, it's a good album but not classic. Stereophonics have fallen into a rut in my opinion, I would hate to write them off but they keep just churning out the same s**te, as have Oasis for the last couple of albums, it's nothing different and it's nothing exciting realy, It's middle of the road crap that 98FM will play to middle-aged group of people who listen to that - they have found their market and so be it.
