Ehh, Back To The Future, actually.
Which means, I suppose, that I am claiming that Sigur Ros influenced the past of music rather than the future.
In other words, if we didn't have the Dandy Warhols then we wouldn't have the Rolling Stones before them and if we didn't have The Darkness then we would never have had AC/DC or Queen.
Wow, I've invented my own scientific theory.
I think I'll call it 'Retropredictiography'.
The brainiacs amongst you can read the theory in full which is entitled, "Towards an understanding of the inverted properties of Retrospective Musical Influence" at the following link...

Tom Jones is the poor mans Elvis
Damien Dempsey is the poor mans Damien Dempsey. Yeah he's unique but that doesn't mean he can't be terrible. In any thread. Anywhere.

Nah, sorry, that whole looking into the future and changing the past has been pretty much been the standard storyline for time travel based sci-fi since HG Wells. However I must congratulate you on creating a new word in the english language and a possible googlewhackblat (a googlewhack generated from just one word)

Suggs used to call Madness the poor man's Talking Heads. Which, I guess, is fair enough...

I prefer the idea I had myself that is now in COPYRIGHT in a script that I've written.
Essentially, time travel works on the basis that in order for you to go back in time, you must body shift with someone of the time frame you are travelling to. Say I went back in time to the JFK assasination, I would replace "John Doe" in the past and "John Doe" would replace me in the present but we would both be ourselves which would lead to tense moments and endless hilarity every week.
And no it's not the same as Quantum Leap!

Beg to differ. Wilt are the superior band although Kerbdog were also great in their day

hey i love Kerbdog too, just thought it had to be put up there, Wilt were class too, better than the foo fighters live. oh no ive done it again!
by the way wheres the best place to get a legal cd version of the first Kerbdog record? my tape finally gave up on me about a year ago and was devoured. I say legal cos I have a thing against robbing the creators of what I consider to be genuine artistic endevours. Just my thing, Im fuct up like, its the soft drugs i think.

Actually, I thought The Thrills were the poor man's Hothouse Flowers.
Same South Dublin upbringing, same crappy clothes, same crappy beards, same obsession with a Mythical America, same lack of structure in their songwriting

Murky waters there I'm afraid. I've been trying to get that for years and all I ever hear is that there were only so many printings done and now they've run out, they're gone. Good places to try are SOund Cellar, Rythem Records...and there's one around the corner from St. Georges arcade where I managed to pick up all of the Mexican Pets stuff.

re Kerbdog, I''ve heard that OK. I'm sure its available to download via the web. Will post it up if I find it. Thats how a mate of mine got the Judgement NIght Soundtrack. A classic rap/metal record. Ahead of its time I think, considering the tone of the record, when you look at the ideas that were copied by many bands since.
