Good one jules. I accidentally left out an "e". I could go through all of your posts about the obscure bands you listen to but I have better things to do with my time

Touche mon ami. Touche In regards to whether I go through all your posts, no I don't, and I don't expect the same from your good self. Not sure what your point is either. That you don't like people reading your posts and replying to them prehaps ? Anyway, I take on board what you say about Bono's pronouncements but I don't see how that relates to his choice of microphone. If you are going to attack him simply on the basis of the equipment he uses where does that leave other musicians ? Does the Edge play his guitar solo for 'Bullet The Blue Sky' with less conviction because he is using a Fender made in the USA ? Woody Guthrie used to write and play his songs on a succession of Martin guitars. The Martin Guitar Company could never be described as a Socialist collective yet Guthrie was a hardline Communist ? Was he being a hypocrite ?

Hey Jules, you've taken my comment from a totally different thread and used it completely out of its intended context to support your own argument. Look, I don't want to start an argument here, but lets make something clear: If you want to bring politics into the discussion on occasion, fine, its just that I am not interested I don't appreciate you dragging me into it.

Didn't mean to. It was unintentional. Apologies for any upset caused. Have edited response. (see above) I should point out though that I didn't bring politics into this discussion. I was simply responding to Brian of G's comments about Bono's spoken views which are, lets face it, highly political. Indeed, so are his lyrics... 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' 'Bullet The Blue Sky' 'Silver and Gold' 'Peace on Earth' 'Seconds' 'Pride' To be fair, I can't quite see how any discussion on U2's songs can avoid politics when they are such a political band and previous postings on this thread by other members have made direct reference to the political content of their music. It would be a bit like discussing the rap lyrics of Public Enemy and never mentioning their views on The Nation of Islam or Malcolm X.

How can "Peace on Earth" be about the Omagh bomb if it happened in 1998 and U2's "Pop" album be from 1997???

Really hate the last album - pointless, bland stuff, wild honey etc. For me the really bad stuff has been the obvious, fist-clenched stadium anthems - I cringe with 'Sunday, Bloody, Sunday' get red-faced during 'where the streets'' and pride makes me hide behind the couch. But the worst U2 song... has to be the 'red light' off war - if it was written in Bosnia it would have been a war crime.

i dont lke them at all, posturing, posing, no real muscianship(compared to say, fleetwood mac, the eagles, a gazillion others) i know im setting myself up for a beating judging by the earlier comments, but i really never liked them. nothing they did seemed honest enough for me. achtung baby was cool though, cos they left their gaurd down more than alot of bands could, so we got some emotional stuff. nothing against them, i just wouldnt cross the street for them, you know? take it or leave it, you know? oh god please, not the face, im too pretty
