I'm with Flagman on that. Summerteeth is probably the most accessible and a good starting point (My first Wilco album also). I'd follow that closely by Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I am listening to "Ashes of American Flags" as I type. A thing of beauty.

I would have to disagree... I think that Being There is still Wilco's masterpiece (though I must admit the new album may move ahead in my estimations with time). Summerteeth always struck me as Wilco's Out of Time - overproduced and over-rated compared to their back catalogue.

SummerTeeth is the most polished in production and is probably the best starting point (unless you love Americana and wouldn't be put off by the country twinges of their earlier work). Personally, it'd be a toss up on a day to day basis between Being There & YHF as to which is their best. I love the depth & the experimentation on YHF. I will say that I have given people YHF to listen to and none have liked it straight off the bat. However, they all seem to love SummerTeeth from the off and generally end up loving YHF & Being There afterward.

Let me state, for the record, that I also like Wilco. Uncle Tupelo's "March 16-20 1992" is also excellent.
