I likes Vicar Street, Olympia, Whelans (undeniably insufferable though it was last time I was there, try playing something that is more adventurous than everyday-NME) and I have a soft spot for the Ambassador coz of the good times moshing away to my hearts content and that time when I slipped and smacked my knee off the very hard concrete ground. And someone stole my friends shoe. I agree with Una, why can't we have some dive bars that just focus on the basics, good music, good drink, good people and modestly underpriced PA and lights. Just make sure the clientel don't suffer what doran's became

You could do much worse than the Ice Bar if youre after a small place with good people and good music. Granted its not really a venue as such, but my mate has put on a good few nights in there with some decent djs, all of which were huge successes. Really nice staff there too actually and a really laid back atmosphere.

Ice bar is excellent. We used to have smell dodgey bars that were great. But then we went out and got rich and decided to buy tons of chrome and glass and allow people in that wore scarves

Some characters in there alright. I remember sitting in there with some friends last xmas eve talking to a guy who was trying to sell us acid, blissfully unaware of it being xmas and prob wondering why everyone was running around with bags of shopping looking completely stressed.

I presume we're talking about the Ice Bar on Parnell Street and not the one in the Four Seasons... I think they should make the Hub trashy and rocky - neon signs and Cassandra from Wayne's World, and what not.
