I wouldn't like to have it as a heart beat but my favorite basslines would probably be by one of my fave bands: Adult. ..mind you, if you had a bassline like "Hand to Phone" (which sound HUUUGE) or "Turn into Fever", you'd probably be dead in about 20 minutes or at least a "Nervous Wreck". Miss Kittin "Alergic" - the line in the song "fall asleep with my head in the speaker" sums it up. There's something amost hypnotic about it. Just crank it up, and totally get lost in subsonic frequencies. I love Peter Hook style bassines (who doesn't?) but like "allergic" for being practically the opposite.

Excellent choice ilovehoovering, it'd keep you awake for fear of what might gobble you up in your sleep. It would result in insomnia but good choice none the less. I'd like to add another Hooky one in Transmission and Babe I'm on Fire by Nick Cave

Seven Minutes of Funk by Whole Darn Family. If there's a funkier bassline in existence I've yet to hear it. Check it out for yourself; http://sandbox.pair.com/sound/ao9506_7minutesoffunk.ram

Yep, a word: thrum: 1. Music. To play (a stringed instrument) idly or monotonously: thrummed a guitar. 2. To speak, repeat, or recite in a monotonous tone of voice; drone.
