Yellow Room www.yellow-room.com
Formed in 2001, Yellow Room comprises the Milligan siblings Niamh, Alan and Ruth. Alan is a former member of the now defunct Dublin rock-outfit "Whover" while Niamh and Ruth are veterans
of a number of vocal groups. Regular gigging over the past two years and several live radio performances have resulted in healthy sales of the band's debut self-produced and self-financed EP. Yellow Room are now moving up a gear having written new material, formed Umbrella Records, their own independent record label, and devised a plan to raise BES funding in order to release
a single and album in 2004
Brian McGuire & Colm Jones
Brian McGuire was a founder member of Ireland’s first Alt Country outfit, "The Fashions", who had a radio hit with their single "All I Own in Dublin are the Bars". His song "The Dawning of the Day" was recorded by Eleanor Shanley on her Desert Heart album. More recently Brian performed his bitingly relevant "The Opposition Spokesman (on heartache and tears)" on the Sunday Show on RTE Radio 1. His recent album "Falling in Love with the World" yielded the singles "Vodka and Solpadeine" and the title track.
Colm Jones wrote his first song in the 1960s and was the bass player in several showbands until the mid 1970s which heralded the end of that era. A return to original material in 1978 produced a success with the duo "It's A Secret" and a 1980s hit in Holland with "I Can't Dance". Colm opened The Promenade Recording Studios and, having recorded Brian McGuire's album there, has now started performing with Brian and is also currently recording his own solo album.
Sundrive www.reekus.com/sundrive.html
Formed in 2002, Sundrive are Steve Cranley and Michael McDonnell with Pat Fitzgerald on drums. Their sunny debut single "A Day Like Today" was released in August 2002 and was very favourably received picking them up a couple of heavyweight fans in the broadcasting community. The follow-up single "Storybook Girl", a three-minute shot of blissed out retro guitar pop, attracted a large number of new fans. Noted for their wonderful three-part harmonies, superbly crafted songs and virtuoso guitar work, Sundrive gave their debut performance to an audience of 100,000 people at the Phoenix Park, Dublin at the O2 Festival last year. The first Sundrive album is due out in the Spring of 2004.
Mickey Harte www.mickeyharte.com
Mickey Harte is a singer/songwriter from Lifford in Co. Donegal. A performer since his teenage years, he gigged extensively throughout Ireland and Europe but success eluded him until his profile received a massive fillip upon entering RTE TV's 'You're a Star' competition in late 2002. Months of intensive competition displayed Mickey’s star quality to the masses and he emerged as the contest winner earning the opportunity to perform "We've got the world", Ireland's entry to the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest, live to a worldwide television audience of over 400 million people. Released as a single, 'We've Got The World' spent five weeks at No. 1 in Ireland and is one of the country’s biggest selling singles of 2003. Mickey's follow-up single, the self-penned 'Never Wanna Let U Down' was released in July and lost the No. 1 spot only to Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love". Mickey's debut album 'Sometimes Right, Sometimes Wrong' achieved double platinum status within five weeks of being launched and managed to wrestle the No. 1 spot from the Thrills' 'So Much For The City'.
A new single "There Must be Love" is set to be the icing on the cake, bringing to a close a fantastic year for the artist formerly known as Mickey Joe Harte!
