DAWN KENNY ¡§In addition to all the intellectual and emotional qualities Dawn brings to her music, she has that other, moderately useful advantage ¡V she has a quite wonderful voice, which is both versatile and strong¡¨ „Q - Kevin Myers, The Irish Times. ¡§She has the most magnificent voice... and beautiful songs¡¨ „Q - Gareth O¡¦Callaghan, 2FM. Singer/songwriter Dawn Kenny hails from Ardnacrusha, Co. Clare and last year released the single ¡§Long Way Down¡¨, which received extensive airplay on 2fm, RTE Radio 1 and regional radio stations. Classically trained and holding a Masters Degree in Music Composition, Dawn has worked with former Fatima Mansions frontman Cathal Coughlan (touring Ireland and America with Coughlan as well as performing on his Black River Falls CD with Cooking Vinyl) and has also played keyboards on Ciddy Hall, the 1998 release by left-of-centre band Nine Wassies From Bainne. As a solo singer/songwriter, Dawn has attracted much attention within the music business due to the quality of her songs and her unique voice. Her debut album Through The Loop was released last year to immense critical acclaim and saw her feature in the Top Ten Hot Press Readers Poll in the Female Vocalist and Best Newcomer categories, within only two months of its release. The independently released CD was taken on for distribution by Sony Music Ireland. Dawn¡¦s growing reputation has been enhanced by a string of support tours with Bob Geldof, Ron Sexsmith and Glenn Tilbrook (ex-Squeeze) coupled with one-off shows supporting Joan Armatrading, Wynnona Judd, Al Stewart and many others. She has also played many successful headline gigs throughout the country and performed at major festivals this year in Galway, Cork and Belfast. Dawn¡¦s commanding live performances have led to numerous television appearances on RTE, TV3 and TG4. Her growing profile has also led to interviews with RTE Radio, Today FM, 98FM, HotPress, Irish Independent, The Irish Examiner and many more. At present, she is in the process of recording a new album, which is due for release in February next year.
