I tonight knocked together a new look for CLUAS. I have done one page so far to demonstrate the ideas that have been knocking around in my head and I want to get some feedback on this early 'draft' look. The page I've put together is a new look home page for the site, but the thinking is that the concept will percolate to (all?) other pages on the site in due course.
Check out the first cut of this new look on this page:

Opinions please. Let them rip. And then I'll fine tune and launch to all and sundry.

Grand at my normal high res 1280x1024), switch down to 800x600 and it looks a little cluttered, still OK at low res, just not pretty.

I think it's a little cluttered but some fine tuning would do no harm. Yeah it looks groove-eeeee.

Definitely tidier. I was expecting some seriously radical changes so you've left me a bit disappointed! Prefer it to the current format though

Maybe flag the discussion boards in a clearer manner closer to the top of the page?

i don't like it.
its too boxy or too many lines or something.
i think its kinda unfriendly to have so many boxes and squares.

Cheers for the feedback.
I have made a few changes and <deep breeath> rolled it out on the front page (and also rolled out the new horizontal navigation bar across the whole site). I am not yet 100% happy with it yet but with a bit more tweaking it will be in good shape. This is very much a work in progress so keep the feedback coming.

The movie section is no more. Its an area of the site that had been dead for months in terms of new content. Cluas has evolved pretty much into purely a music site these days and thats where the focus is now.
Will it ever come back? maybe, maybe not, but not in the immediate future. |

It's not radically different. I'd agree with kierry; too many lines make it look a bit amateurish or something.
Other than that it looks grand.
