Laura Isibor www.vibe.ie/music
This super-talented 15 year old from Ballyboden,
Co. Dublin was the winner of the 2003 2FM/Jacobs
Song Contest held in Vicar Street in February and
her winning song “Compatible” has received considerable
radio airplay. Since winning the contest, Laura has
been busy writing, rehearsing and recording new
material and is heading to London later this year
to write with some of the UK’s top urban producers.
Richard Gilpin www.richardgilpin.com
Belfast born and Donegal based Richard Gilpin is
currently promoting his debut album “Beautiful
Mistake” which was released late last year. Recorded
in Maghera, Co. Derry, this album features fine
performances from Henry McCullough (guitar),
James Delaney (piano), Ted Ponsonby (dobro),
Cathal Hayden (fiddle) and Rosemary Woods (vocals).
Demonstrating his virtuosity, Richard draws together
an eclectic blend of styles including acoustic
rock, country, blues and traditional Irish music.
Richard will be joined onstage by Remco Rodrigues,
a Dutch guitarist now living in Donegal.
Cathy Maguire
From Dundalk, Cathy Maguire has been singing and
performing virtually all of her life. She is descended
from the ancient Irish bardic tradition and generations
of her family have travelled the country making music
as their livelihood. Cathy has tipped her hat at
Nashville and has made several visits to "Music City"
to co-write with some well established names there
including Pat Alger, among whose hits are “Once in a
very blue moon” and “Lone Star State of mind”, both
songs recorded by Nancy Griffith.
Cathy’s fresh, melodic style has aroused the interest
of the Nashville cognoscenti who now want to write with
her. A return trip to work with Shawn Camp and Kevin
Montgomery is now imminent.
This month's special guest is LIAM REILLY
Liam Reilly is the definitive "trouper". His band
Bagatelle are currently on tour to mark their 25th
anniversary. Their tour will take them across Ireland,
the UK, Europe, the USA (for the 32nd time!) and
Australasia.
As lead singer and songwriter for Bagatelle, many of
Liam's songs are extremely well known. "Summer in Dublin"
is now considered a standard and he has also written
the contemporary Irish classics "Second Violin", "Streets
of New York", "Flight of Earls" and "Somewhere in Europe".
Currently writing and producing for two new album projects,
Liam is a very busy man indeed this year.
