Some of you may have seen posts in the past about H*llyw**D. A few name changes later, a tour, and the debut album finished this is the latest. After five weeks of recording the album is finished and has to be mixed which will take two more weeks. The album was recorded in London with Chris Tsangarides. Chris has produced Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore and Mamas Boys from Ireland and has also produced Priest, Sabbath Ozzy and Bruce d**kinson to name a few. This album will be something completely different in this day of singer song writers and alternative rock bands. Chris Tsangarides also plays keyboard on it. So imagine Thin Lizzy meets Deep Purple, a bit of Gallagher and a bit of the Doors and you have Glyder. Its going to have the Clarity of Thin Lizzy’s Thunder and Lightning with the balls of modern production. Now were on the road to shopping a deal. New web site up too www.glydermusic.com As some of you may be a bit confused with all the name changing stuff. A little explanation is in order. Prior to the recording session the name Emerald Kings was decided upon to replace Hollywood. As the band puts it "We came under a fair bit of Criticism for using Emerald Kings and while recording the album we decided to change it to Glyder. We feel that this name does not put us into any particular musical category and will in time become associated with us". GLYDER have had a busy month in the studio with Chris Tsangarides. The debut album is coming along nicely. The band are currently lining up some gigs in the UK The album is very much hard and heavy but keeping strong on melody and harmony. The gig in Brentford went well with great reviews from www.getreadytorock.com "The Emerald Kings are currently over in London recording their debut album and this was a chance to see a very promising and talented Irish rock band. They’ve supported Thin Lizzy in their homeland and the band’s musical vibe isn’t far off what you could possibly imagine Thin Lizzy playing if Phil Lynott was still around today. A tightly played set including ‘Pretty Useless People’ – a song about all these non-celebrities from TV reality shows like ‘Big Brother’- ‘You Won’t Bring Me Down’ and ‘Saving Face’. The final tune of the set was a Thin Lizzy cover, ‘Black Rose’; and boy was it a great version. This band ooze class and musical ability, for a band together less than a year they play a remarkably tight set, I will be keen to hear their debut album later this year. There are no real bands out there keeping the vibe and musical style of Thin Lizzy alive (bar tribute bands and the John Sykes led Thin Lizzy) which is a mystery but luckily (Glyder)the emerald Kings carry on the great tradition adding their own styling. Great stuff! Also from www.rockunited.com "hollywoods (Glyder's) clear sounding music is a welcomed addition to what the music industry mostly has to offer these days. Their sound isn’t often heard and they’ve got soul to their classic rock" A quote from the heal another great up and coming band from London "Emerald Kings (Glyder) who played the tightest set I’ve ever heard in my life. They deserved a bigger crowd. Good luck to them with their recording and hopefully our paths will cross again in the future" and hopefully it will. Check these guys out at t www.theheal.net
