I thought they were amazing, a few technical probs towards the end that slowed things down , but all in all, it was a great performance, they sounded amazing, great vibes. More than just a band, a phenomenon.

Really enjoyed the gig, a bit like if Blue Nile decided to add Johnny Greenwood on guitar, The Specials brass section and Keith Moon on drums to their live sound. The songs just went up several levels when played live, almost to the point where I think the albums were not produced correctly.
They really seemed to enjoy themselves and seemed to swap instruments at random. Really full on energitic performance.
Would advise anyone to go see them.

i enjoyed it but wasnt happy at the way people kept 'shooshing' when quite songs were being played, why didnt they just turn up the volume!!! Also the village is just such a bad venue could ruin any gig for me. Trains to Brazil though.........deadly

people should have enough f**kin respect to keep quiet in the first place and have some respect for the people who are trying to perform for them and for the other punters, then maybe people wouldnt have to shoosh them if you know what I mean.
I am not a fan of The Village but I have to say I realy enjoyed last night , the sound was pretty decent, plenty loud and quite clear. The band have such energy and really played out of their skins, you cant beat that for 20 squids.

I know what you mean and i agree emphatically. It was the same at Sufjan Stevens in The Village and i remember being more than pissed off at Iron & Wine when he played Whelan's thanks to three drunken pissheads who kept shouting "bless me Jesus" etc. etc. because he had a beard. f**kin assholes. People should have more respect. These bands have it tough enough on the road and actually have the cajones to get up on stage and do their thing. The shooosh brigade can sometimes get a bit fascist though. Reminds me of the time at Bonnie "Prince" Billy in Vicar St. when, in absolute silence, my mate poured a 7-UP into his glass, it started to fizz and this was followed by a volley of shoooshs. Too much.

Certainly was - Comets On Fire were stunning - can't believe there were so few punters. Going to be a hard one to top for gig of the year.

Wow, that's amazing. I thought the exact opposite - That whoever produces them really earns his corn as I thought they were a shambles. I like the records but I've seen them twice now and both times I thought they were diabolical.

I think the great thing about Guillemots is how the record and the live performance arent identical. Personally i prefer the live version. As John Earls said, live they are all about spontanaety, on record its all about orchestration.
also that gig has reaffirmed my belief that Aristanzabal Hawkes is the most beautiful girl in all of indiedom

I thought it was so so - mainly due to the fact that it was in the Village - hate that venue! I was near the two poles and the noise from the people standing around me was greater than the band, even during the faster songs. I wasn't one of the ones shooosing, I think you will always have people chatting when the bar is in the same room as the gig.
At The Village, its like looking down a tunnel trying to see the performance - there are no accoustics there at all!
The opening two songs were a shambals - the sound engineer must have arsed things up it was a bundle of feedback and noise.
'Made up love song 43' was fantastic though!

It must be just the venue because I was standing just ahead of the 2 poles and the sound was ok to good.
I thought they were really good live, Sao Paolo is one amazing song!
