We're well aware of it, but to be honest, there's not much a moderator can do, nor am I personally inclined to do much about it either, other than move posts to the appropriate forum. I can't just go around pointing fingers at people asking to them to prove that they're just overenthusiastic fans rather than associated with the band and anyway, spotting such posts already enough of a favorite bloodsport among members of these boards as it is!
Personally I don't get why bands do it really. It doesn't make people want to listen, it just makes them look really, really, really dumb.
To any bands that do want to promote their stuff properly, then by all means, please post away in the "Plug Bands" or "Gig announcements" page as appropriate. I check out stuff posted the plug bands page on a fairly regular basis myself, and not just for moderating purposes either so I'm sure others who want to hear new bands do too.
Best of all, why not get your stuff featured or reviewed properly on the main site rather than just the boards? if you've got a gig coming up, let us know via this page: http://www.cluas.com/forms/submit_details_of_a_gig.htm ..and if the gig guide editor likes your music, then it will be featured in our gig guide.
If you've got an album or single coming out, then why not send us a copy for review? Contact us via this page: http://www.cluas.com/forms/contact.htm
- if you ask nicely, I might even do some pie charts or maybe some sort of venn diagram
