am somewhat perplexed by the recent resurgence of fionn regan, it's like his record company decided out of the blue they were gonna do some serious PR and try and get him on the map after promoting him for a year and thereafter virtually ignoring him (until now)
saw him supporting turin brakes a few years ago and he wasn't bad, thought he had potential, had a slightly shouty but also distinctive voice on him
i was living in blighty then so i hopped on the ferry to wales the next morning and who did i see getting off the boat in fishguard but one mr. regan!
WEARING THE SAME T-SHIRT HE WAS SWEATING PROFUSELY IN THE NIGHT BEFORE!
he must've bloody slept in it as well! jaysus....

he's supported at curious numbers of gigs in the UK - I couldn't believe when I went to see Low that he was on after Bat for Lashes. He had a generous billing at Green Man too. I don't really understand it at all, I must say - he has a nice voice, I guess.

actually he opened for Joanna Newsom, too, at her Irish date in the Sugar Club a couple of years ago.

Indeed he did. Don't remember too much about him. Didn't leave a huge impression. Was probably just eagerly anticipating Ms. Newsom at the time so a re-heated Elvis would have been ignored.

My feelings exactly. Maybe I would've liked him more if he hadn't been inadvertently delaying the arrival of the most exciting songwriter of our generation ;) *cough*

the album is somewhere between good and very good. i'd caught him at a good few support slots before, and yeah, he didn't stand out especially, but the record is a really nice slow burner.
he's getting very decent notices in the british press. he's been landing prominent support slots over there for a while.

he used to support all those gigs HAL played around the country when they were promoting their album, i thinks he's buddies with them. Nice guy thought he was pretty good then but I haven't heard the album yet.

Who the hell is 'Fionn O'Reegan'? Oh, Fionn Regan UK press are deeply in love with him. New Bob Dylan, apparently.

I was surprised to see him get so much publicity (and positive reviews) recently... Like the other two posters I was distinctly unimpressed by his Joanna Newsom support slot.. seemed to be just another of the ten-a-penny acoustic guitar strummers. Must be a bit more to him than that.

Antistar, I had higher hopes with you than to use the 'new Bob Dylan' tag for a new singer/songwriter.

My mate had a Hal song as the first dance at her wedding recently. A hell of a lot better than some Celine Dion standard pukefest.
