The only reason they would pull a track is for disproportionately high downloads / single sales from the same ip/credit card or small group of same. There are many inbuilt mechanisms to stop cheating the charts and rightly so.
The track has been pulled and from what I remember there was 500 plus downloads before it was. I guess we'll have to await their findings for the exact facts. I hope for the bands sake they are not at fault.

do you have any facts to back this up richard?
seems a bit off that you should be highlighting the mistakes or misfortunes of other local bands on a messageboard, as a manager of local acts it seems odd.
downloads have certainly made it a lot harder for independent bands to get high chart positions.
i have never heard these St Julian band, but they've been all over hotpress the last while.

in fairness i'm sure he wouldn't just pluck that figure from thin air without hearing it from a reliable source, coupled with the fact that they're not in the charts anywhere i'd say he's not far off the mark
as for the rest of what you say
as a manager of a local band myself bands like st julien acting the bollix in the charts only serves to make it harder for genuinely successful bands to get credibility / counts in the charts and besides anything else if they did try and rig the charts im sure they knew the risk of it biting them in the ass and indeed it's done just that. i mean come on theres such a thing as discretion for an unknown to get to the position they did was a tad bit greedy they should have just settled on their previous position and been happy with that, hotpress exposure would have had very little to do with it i'd imagine particularly given that hotpress probably charged them for the privilidge in the first place
also, downloads in actual fact have made it easier for bands to get into the charts and i know that snow patrol who are riding high enough in the charts have practically done so on downloads alone, perhaps to avoid things like this happening in the future the powers that be need to look at what sites are allowed to contribute their download figures towards the charts

a band at number 12 in the midweeks who then subsequently disappear completely out of the top 50 charts is only down to one thing
ct or irma removed them from it for cheating unless of course you could think of another plausible reason

Sorry you are probably correct, I'll amend the post. I'm afraid it's the talk of the town this week though! and a real shame for the act if the talk is true. I can only hope an over enthusiastic fan tried to do a GGG Galway on it and dumped the band in a mess!
I think downloads have made it easier for independant bands to get higher chart positions though don't follow your lodgic on that front.

I've a feeling that this was the promotion! Seems to have worked, from the amount of mentions they've gotten now.

that has to be the silliest way to promote a band ever
your band gets into the top twenty and therefore gets played on all the radio stations chart shows all over the country but the band get pulled from the chart and with that no more airplay
oh yeah , promotional brainwave LOL

do you have any facts to back this up richard? - Yes and I see it's now out in the open! Good!
seems a bit off that you should be highlighting the mistakes or misfortunes of other local bands on a messageboard, as a manager of local acts it seems odd. - I agree with The Watcher on this point sorry you find it odd Gar, It's hard enough competing with international acts without Casper the downloading ghost messing things up as well! Cheers

see may well have heard of them but has this done anything to endear the band to her or will she just remember them as cheaters? honestly would she buy the single / go to a gig etc because of this publicity?

you see thats my point, i'd say the vast majority of people wont give them the time of day now as they will be forever tarred with the brush of chart rigging
i know they say theres no such thing as bad publicity but this kinda thing defo comes under that category
